tama’s soft and breathy vocals gloat perfectly over ethereal synths on ‘didn’t have to’, a vulnerable synth-pop ballad that he states is "about a past lover who i still think is cool but also manipulative. i came out on the greener side by being able to turn pain and confusion into a beautiful song.”

the miami-raised, nyc based singer/producer/dj’s upcoming new album ‘notes to self’ is announced today (due out august 16th), and the first single ‘runaway pup’ is out now!

tama’s new single ‘runaway pup’ blends his r&b Y2K pop sound with a shoegaze aesthetic. directed by jonathan qualtere, tama says the video is an ode to one of his favorite films:

“this video was so fun to make! we reference ‘funny games’ – one of my favorite movies ever, by one of my favorite directors, michael haneke… I was challenging myself to create something just as cool with the best team behind me. it was very rewarding to see this come to life!”

blending expansive, delicate and deliberate production with influence from the likes of maurice fulton and the knife, tatyana's sound originates from a pure love of the dancefloor: robyn, tirzah, mica levi, jessy lanza, lcd soundsystem, four tet.

of the album, tatyana says:

"when i was writing this album i was constantly imagining what it would feel like to perform each song on stage because my music is meant for dancing and its main sonic reference is the dancefloor. i wanted the sounds of the album to awaken the senses, to make your blood run faster, and to open the listener up to new experiences. the title of the album is a play on words - it implies that it’s about a breakup but actually it’s about facing reality. it’s called ‘it’s over’ but when one thing ends, something new must start. this record is really about that - the perpetual motion of life - two steps forward, one step back."

"'it’s over' is the titular track of the new album and one of the last songs I wrote for the project. in a way it’s a mission statement for the record -- a proclamation of a mature vision of life where I can finally stand alone on both feet. the song is about that moment right before you close the door of your car and drive away from everything, from all the relationships and situations that are not fulfilling anymore."

new york alternative pop duo Cults have released a remix package for their viral hit 'gilded lily', out today! ✨

the collection of tracks includes a remix by cinematic soul group El Michels Affair, as well as a remix by producer hardaway and cults’ own madeline follin. rounding out the track list is the sped-up version of the song, which led the charge in the song’s massive return on tiktok, and the slowed + reverb version.
