Maybe you know the music these artists made, maybe you don’t.
If you do then come along and enjoy an hour of their music. If you don’t then you’re most welcome to check out the records that likely would have been loaded in Johnny Thunders Jukebox.
30 years ago Johnny Thunders died on April 23rd 1991, who knows exactly how. We're choosing to remember Johnny through the Remarquable lens of ‘1978’ – the year Johnny made the album ‘So Alone’ whilst living in London, playing a five month residency at The Speakeasy Club, and popping over to France for a few shows – Johnny performed and recorded an exciting mix of new songs, old songs from his New York Dolls days and plenty of covers of Rock’n’Roll and Rhythm’n’Blues songs that fuelled his musical engine.
‘Record Studio Tales’ is hosted by Henry Scott who recorded this commemorative show in SOHO - at the location this photo of Johnny was taken many, many years ago.
Joining Henry is Nick Brown (Intoxica Records) and Pedro Mercedes (Remarquable Records) chit chatting inbetween the rockin’ discs about the music Johnny shone a spotlight on during his time in London recording with Steve Lillywhite in West London and playing in the West End at ‘The Speak’ with an ever changing line up, not far from his residence in D’Arblay Street.
The first airings can be heard by tuning in via any digital device on Saturday 17th from 6-7pm (BST), or/and/also catch the repeat on Thursday 22nd from 9-10pm (BST) on @ RadioScarborough – Scarborough_UK being where the seafood draws one-eyed cats, ya dig!.
