Cemetary Recordz was first conceived in 2003, when Evul, trying to get a music career off the ground, wanted a label of his own, to back his brand of music. At the time, he was working with friends Spyder, Scrub and C on various different types of music, and they all had a different view on what they wanted to promote themselves as. Spyder and C didn't want to do primarily Horror-Related music, so
as a compromise, "Platinum Axe Records," was born. Unfortunately, nothing ever came of Platinum Axe, and so Evul returned to the label idea he had originally came up with. Originally, "Cemetary Records," Evul changed it to, "Cemetary Recordz," To differentiate it from actual Cemetery Records, as what you would look for in finding county records of dead people online, or otherwise. When designing the logo for the label, Evul was always into the old-school style of album art that many Rappers and Rockers used on their albums, primarily, Suge Knight's early/mid 90's label, Death Row Records, which always showed the big logo of the guy frying in the electric chair. Evul, always liked this, and wanted to go for a classic look and feel, in regards to the logo. Genre-wise, Evul has said that that he will always primarily like to promote horror-related music, but will never limit the label to just those styles; gladly welcoming possible Rock, pure Hip Hop, and even Country, or whatever else, if the music fits the label.
