Sometimes I think that if I had only left you alone to record your music in China and had not begun releasing your records, or signed your immigration sponsor papers to help get you to America where you could begin touring and record more albums and eventually make it to your dream at Na**lm Records label then you might still be alive today. I had no idea that you were struggling – if I had known perhaps in some small way I could have helped.

Universal Theory: Collapse (2022) - mini-review

Spanish band Universal Theory released the album "Collapse" towards the end of 2022, and metal is the style explored on this production. This is a take on the form that play around a lot with an ebb and flow between gentler escapades and bombastic eruptions, with the former being closer to a more careful variety of melodic rock at times while the latter smacks you hard with majestic and bombastic eruptions of a Wagnerian nature. Orchestral inspired textures are used quite a lot throughout to add a symphonic touch to the landscapes explored, primarily for the more bombastic sections, and occasional detours into extreme metal landscapes is also a part of the experience here. That some of the compositions also feature electronic textures that gives me associations to EDM probably merits a mention as well. The combination of male and female lead vocals is effective as always, but the distinct male lead vocals here may be something of an acquired taste for some. The powerful, dramatic and bombastic eruptions that define this production may be a feature with a similar effect, as for me at least the arrangements just became too busy and filled with too many dominant sounds, which deflated the effect of this ebb and flow structure a bit for me and my specific taste in music. But for those who tend to enjoy music that alternates between gentler and melodic sections and striking, dramatic and bombastic surges throughout an entire album, this is a production worth looking into.

In the before times, four mighty Bards - with beards of crimson and chestnut roamed the stages of Australia and beyond.

These four Metallic Bards forged tales together, and brought joy to the hearts of the three to seven punters who stayed after the better bands had finished their sets.

Now some of you may be too young to remember - but gigs were the life blood of musical quartets - And Stormtide was no exception.

Their last bardic adventure was in Canberra - where a curse was placed on them by an evil wizard (Prime Minister Scott Morrison).
They were doomed to a string of cancellations and various terrors for their hubris and sub-par bodily hygiene.

However - the mighty druids at Black-Roos Entertainment have found the cure - and with your help we will break this curse!

We will return to Canberra and do battle with the forces of evil.
