Not quite the “Rocksteady Records” they had planned, but what has emerged is a record label that is as diverse as the signed artists and as fresh as the team behind Steven and Rudi. Rude World Records was born early 2011, as a branch from the well established online clothing company – Rude World. The story goes, that Nick Pereira was signed as a DJ/ambassador to the clothing company and over many
coffee meetings, the three man team sparked ideas of moving into music – One mixtape of Locally produced Hip-Hop later, the commitment was made to start a independent record label within CPT, second to none. The three scouted sound engineer, JC Brown – artist and events manager LA Parks and vocalist Jerain Jaftha to start creating and experimenting with different sounds and gain experience within the industry. Growing exponentially and seeing hard work, honesty and integrity in a often cut-throat industy pay off – helped Rude World Records to scoop up 3 of CPTs most sought after artists: Jimmy Nevis, Matthew ‘O Connell and DJ Mic Turner. With the team growing, the sounds coming out of this label have been second to none, from the soulfull acoustics of Jimmy Nevis and Jerain, to the House grooves, Hip Hop and Dubstep of The Rude Boys, with the electrifying Saxaphone of Matthew ‘O Connell. Rude World records is a label that has truly invested 110% into their artists and the achievements of the individuals and the team is certainly a testament to that. The label boasts accolades such as national and regional radio singles from ALL signed artists, countless radio interviews and performances, national TV appearances on Hectic-9nine and Expresso, music videos featured on MTV base online, Rolling Stone, single reviews and press interviews in The Cape Argus, Seventeen Magazine, Rolling Stone SA to name but a few. This is only made possible by the hardwork of both the artists as well as the management and all of the labels staff:
Nick Pereira – Record Label Executive
Lauren Ashleigh Parks – Events Co-ordinator and Manager of Jimmy Nevis
Toni ‘O Connell – Manager of The Rude Boys and Matthew ‘O Connell
Jean-Claude Brown – Chief sound engineer and studio manager
Zunaid Green – Rude World Productions
And Summer 2012 additions to the team:
Nic Manshon and Eugene Bredenkamp – to the Rude World Productions team
Leneave Hansen – Head of the Hip Hop division
Rude World Records is more than just a group of individuals aiming for success in the music industry - it's a family of like minded and hard-working artists and management striving to push the standards of South African music in all genres and challenge to be the most dominant independent label in CPT as well as South Africa
