First Triathlon for all of us! What a great experience!!
First late…. Or is it early?? run in a while! Temps were nice 😂
🥵 🔥💪👍🤦♂️🫠
Hot day for a half marathon! 🥵☀️🔥 Finished 2 hrs before my 12 hr swing shift 🚔. Enjoyed a nice Harley ride back home, and right into the cold plunge for recovery and cool down. 6 miles tomorrow to cap off a big week!!
Bring on the heat! 🥵
Bills paid!! Today was a hot one!! First time for a track workout since Jr High 😂😅🥵
What a damn great weekend!! Torch run Thursday with the boy, 5k yesterday with Tristyn including both a PR and 2nd place for me. Half Marathon today with a PR and negative split for me. Carson ran the 10k today and crushed it! Congrats to my friends who also had several huge accomplishments today as well!! Loved the course, community, and company! First running casualty in the last photo.
What a way to spend a morning!
Been a great day. Legs felt strong this morning finally with this tempo repeats run. Now for some baseball. Love watching my boy catch!
Moving SLOW since Saturday. Stacking runs day after day is definitely different than I’m used to!
6 mile easy easy easy run with Mtn Legs workout afterwards. Recovery included my protein shake, coconut water, cold plunge, 40 straight pushups, 40 slant board air squats, a banana, and a trade secret 🤫😂🤷♂️ day two of the 100 mile race plan is finished!
This one won’t be too wordy..
Jan 15 I started a training plan for the Ogden Marathon. Yesterday May 18th was the culmination of all that hard work. I had a goal of completing this race in just under 4 hours and I beat that by almost 14 minutes. Long story short- this one’s for me. The emotions, and revelations I had from this race and sacrifice leading up to it are held so dearly for now that they remain only spoken or sent to few. There may come a time that I pen further about them, but now is not that time. Just know this is only the beginning, and I have the best people in my corner. ❤️❤️ training starts Monday. Stay tuned.
Do the thing. Stay tuned.
Last training run before Ogden full. 5 mile interval/ Fartlek run. Felt absolutely amazing. Also ran it in my race shoes and I just love them! 2 days away!!
Beautiful morning. Went out in full sweats because I’m done being cold on workouts 😂 stopped the watch at 4 miles and enjoyed a half mile unrecorded walk just to enjoy the morning. 8 days to go..
4 miles of interval training today. Very consistent, very happy with it. Taper is going well so far!! 10 days!!
I’ll have more words later, but for now just know, I am beaming!!! This kid is my hero. 11 years old and killed his first half marathon and goal by 14 minutes. Dino by Runtastic has been my favorite event yet. Dry Fork Canyon in Vernal is absolutely stunning!
Aimed for a zone 2 run for today since I switched back to night shift last night. Unfortunately after 4 hours of sleep this felt a bit rough along with the wind. Last picture is of my son learning a life lesson of closing the lid on your 10,000 airsoft bb container 😂
Short 4 mile hill session. Up and Down - Out and Back! Been a busy two days of fence work. So awesome to still feel good in top of the workouts and work! Get outside and go move around that’s all it takes!
Speedy 4 miles this morning. The body is amazing. The level of comfort I had even at this intensity after running 22 miles two days ago blows my mind. That 3rd mile was all uphill so I’m still calling this a whole negative split run 😂
Peak long run before taper begins next week!!! Officially 21 days away from Ogden marathon. So pumped based on my RPE and knowing my times and abilities I have no doubt this was a 22 mile run. Apple Watches are typically 10-15% short on distance for treadmill running. I’m happy and I feel pumped!! Still had the energy to immediately bust out 20 push ups and 30 air squats!! I’m feeling ready, now it’s time to trust the taper….
First run in the new race day shoes. Vanish C2 WOW IMPRESSIVE. It’s very strange to have a shoe that wants to outrun you at higher paces. Just like yesterday’s run in my new FWD Experience this too was an extremely comfortable shoe. I am very pleased with both at this point.
New boot goofin!! First pair of Altras and damn… been fighting some toe blisters after my weekly mileage has continued to climb. The blue ones are the AltraFwd Experience and I just did this 4 mile interval run in them. Most comfortable run I have ever experienced, I’m simply amazed at the difference. The bright ones are the Altra VanishC2 carbon plated shoe that I plan to run Ogden Marathon in. I’ll try them on a couple smaller interval and speed workouts before to make sure but I am pumped!!!
Beautiful warm run tonight. Feeling a bit down. Dealing with some blisters. Warning feet picture next!!
GREAT RUN WITH MY BOY!!! This 11 year old is a badass and my best friend!! Dino half for both of us in 13 days. That one is a completer not competer as I’ll be starting taper for Ogden full and a half marathon for an 11 year old is a big push! I did 6 miles on my own before our run too.
It’s a great day to have a great day!!!
The day I changed my life.
Well not really because that evolution started months before when I took hold of the controls of my life for good. January 2023 I decided I was in charge once again, and would need to commit to improving my life and wellness, because no one else was able to do it for me. The old adage of sick and tired of being sick and tired rang truer and clearer than ever in my thoughts. I set wheels in motion then that led up to that fateful day 365 days ago that I will never regret, never be embarrassed about, and never forget. One year ago today, April 18 2023 I had my vertical sleeve gastrectomy surgery or weight loss surgery.
I have thoroughly discussed my experience prior to and immediately after my surgery, so I will spare you that again. I will however continue to sing from the rooftops the struggle, and constant effort that this new lifestyle requires. Surgery in my mind was and is ANYTHING but the easy way out. Three times in my life
I have lost nearly 100 pounds and each time it continued to come back at the slightest deviation from the current diet. With this new tool in my belt, I have become the craftsman I never knew I could be. Through constant effort, and determination I have been able to
make positive changes in my life I know will stand the test of time.
I'm so grateful to those that served as my inspiration, and confidants during this journey. You know who you are, and I am eternally grateful for you all.
It is such an amazing thing to now not shy away from the camera, or use tactics to try and hide your shame or discomfort because of your health. I am not afraid to smile, be present, let the memories be preserved, or even snap the selfies I know you all have come to love. I’m also not afraid to let you know what you mean to me, how you may bring value to my life, or to see how I can make your life better, all because I’ve now put myself into a position to live to serve and help others grow.

Went out yesterday for a 4 mile sub 8 minute goal on all 4. Stupid watch paused, but I think I got it. 30 days until Ogden full!!

Some thoughts on cold plunge/ cold exposure therapy and my experience over the last month. If you have the time watch it and let me know what you think. Gimme 30-40 seconds to get settled before I start talking.
Better than expected with injury. Not what I wanted if I hadn’t been injured but I’m happy enough. Pain was gone by mile 6 so that’s good. 1st run in 14 days
