🌀 Happy World Quantum Day! ⚛️

QUANTUM LISTENING BY PAULINE OLIVEROS is reprinting—pre-order at ignota.org 🌀

‘Quantum Listening is listening to more than one reality simultaneously.

Listening for the least differences possible to perceive – perception at the edge of the new. Jumping like an atom out of orbit to a new orbit – creating a new orbit – as an atom occupies both spaces at once one listens in both places at once. Mothers do this. One focuses on a point and changes that point by listening.

Quantum Listening is listening in as many ways as possible simultaneously – changing and being changed by the listening.

I see and hear life as a grand improvisation – I stay open to the world of possibilities for interplay in the quantum field with self and others – community – society – the world – the universe and beyond.’

– Pauline Oliveros, QUANTUM LISTENING

🌀What is the difference between hearing and listening?
🌀Does sound have consciousness?
🌀Can you imagine listening beyond the edge of your own imagination?

In response to the anti-war movements of the 1960s, pioneering musician and composer Pauline Oliveros began to expand the way she made music, experimenting with meditation, movement and activism in her compositions. Fascinated by the role that sound and consciousness play in our daily lives, Oliveros developed a series of Sonic Meditations that would eventually lead to the creation of Deep Listening – a practice for healing and transformation open to all, rooted in her musicianship.

Quantum Listening is a manifesto for listening as activism. Through simple yet profound exercises, Oliveros shows how Deep Listening is the foundation for a radically transformed social matrix: one in which compassion and peace form the basis for our actions in the world.

This timely edition brings Oliveros’ futuristic vision – blending technology and spirituality – together with a new Foreword and Introduction by Laurie Anderson and IONE.

The Sun becoming eclipsed at its exaltation degree in Aries portends the downfall of authorities, while the conjunction between Jupiter and Uranus will inspire liberatory movements.

Simultaneously, the presence of Mars with Saturn and Neptune in Pisces, from 22 March to 30 April, suggests difficult tests and challenges to face, including troubling news concerning water issues. Expect the unexpected and be ready to shift and adapt plans quickly.

Happy astrological new year! Aries season is here 🐏☄️

forecasts Q2 for the 🌌:

Second Quarter: 20 March - 20 June

The second quarter will be the most exciting and volatile section of the year, accelerating processes of growth in some areas of life while disrupting others. There will be increased discord due to the combination of a lunar eclipse in Libra on 25 March, a total solar eclipse in Aries on 8 April, and Mercury’s retrograde transit through Aries from 1 April to 25 April.
May and June will bring opportunities for recovery and initiating bold new directions. Jupiter will enter Gemini on 26 May and spark growth in technological, literary and intellectual realms through its flowing trine aspect with Pluto in Aquarius. Jupiter in Gemini is more frenetic and freedom-oriented than Jupiter’s previous placement in Ta**us; multi-tasking numerous projects during this time may risk becoming spread too thin. The mentally dexterous sign of Gemini will host two other alignments that will kindle creative regeneration: the conjunction between Venus and the Sun on 4 June and the conjunction between Mercury and the Sun on 14 June. Thus the new moon in Gemini on 6 June can be especially fruitful for initiating work involving language and diverse forms of arts and crafts. Due to Saturn in Pisces forming a square with the planets in Gemini, however, there will be a need to be patient, realistic and persevering with plans.

20 March 2024 Nowruz – literally ‘new day’ – the Persian New Year. Beginning on the spring equinox, it marks the first day of Farvardin, the first month of the Iranian solar calendar. Nowruz has Iranian and Zoroastrian origins, but has been celebrated by many communities of different faiths for over 3,000 years in Western and Central Asia, the Caucasus, the Black Sea Basin, the Balkans and South Asia. Celebrate by spring cleaning, visiting loved ones and gathering around the traditional Haft-sin table.

March: A good time to sow vervain (verbena officinalis), a plant of Venus with Martian characteristics. Called ‘tears of Isis’ in ancient Egypt, it was woven into protective charms against the evil eye in Italy. Used mainly for protection and love magic, it germinates in about 3-4 weeks and likes full sun, rich soil and some space to grow.

The winter solstice arrives tomorrow on 21 December: the longest night. From here on the days get longer and the nights shorter. A time for new beginnings.

To celebrate, we’re sharing Cat’s Choice Tarot Spread by from the Ignota Diary (2018 edition). The full spread is available at the 🔗 in bio.

‘For this spread you will need access to at least one cat to snuggle up to as the temperature drops. Personally, I have three cats, so I would ask each cat to help me draw one card. Part of the point of this spread is to really sit with and accept that sometimes we don’t know what’s best for us, and it’s better to let someone else choose. In this case, that someone else is your local feline furry friend! Cats have so much intelligence and intuition of their own to share with us: mine always seem to know when I’m sad and in need of a little extra care and affection. […] For this spread, keep the issue you’d like to work through in mind while shuffling. Once you feel finished, spread your tarot cards face-down on your bedspread, on the floor, on your altar – wherever you’re reading. If your cats are like mine, it won’t take them too long to saunter over and start sniffing things out! That may mean stepping all over your cards, licking them, turning them over. Allow your cat(s) to choose the cards for you. You may decide that means whichever cards they step on or touch first, or only if they’re able to turn it over themselves, or clearly pull it towards them. Be open to collaborating with your cat on this decision!’

The age of AI is upon us. From the news cycle to academic and industry forums, discussions around this emergent technology often consider the application of AI to our lives, in a quest towards efficiency and optimized bottom lines. Other positions stand in stark opposition to and in fear of the novel technology that challenges human capabilities. What if we took a step back to consider all other forms of intelligence that have existed long before ‘technology’ as we know it today?

On 13 December, we are pleased to participate in the bookfair of printed matter speaking to art, technology and futures-thinking at Future TechnĂŞ Summit Hollywood in collaboration with . The Future TechnĂŞ Summit and year-long series is curated by and .
