This story came to Felicia naturally. Yesteday, Thursday, when she came back from a client meeting she had a beautiful edible arrangement on my desk. There was a note attached to the arrangement that said “ Thank you for the lunch, it really brightened up everyone’s day! My turn to brighten up your day! Sincerely Teresa, who is the service manager at Dutchess Recreational Vehicles. Who we awarded the OLW ( office Lunch Wednesday) this past Wednesday.
First, thank you Teresa! As this brings her back to when we have talked about Mental Health Mondays and other feel good stories of paying it forward, this was such a beautiful way to pay forward a smile! Especially because she was having a bit of a rough day and to come back to the office and see that really made her smile and she was able to share the delicious fruit with my co-workers!

Last night The Jolly Cow in Kingston held an annual event called Cops and Cones!
It was a community event with Face painting, a dunk tank and local stores like Walmart, Target and Dick’s Sporting Good proved bikes and gift cards for raffle prizes.
Ulster Police Department ended the post with “ This was truly a great community event and we are looking forward to seeing everyone again next year.”

A big congratulations on going out to Newburgh Free Library for winning the RCLS Battle of the Books!
Battle of the Books is a college bowl-type program for teens entering 6th through the 12th grade. Participants in the Ramapo Catskill Library System (RCLS) program read eight preselected titles and then participate in trivia battles based on the books at a Regional Battle. The goal of the program is to promote a love of reading in teens, to expose them to titles and authors that they might not encounter otherwise, to encourage them to think of their local public library as a resource for entertainment and to inspire teamwork and good sportsmanship in an atmosphere of friendly competition. The titles for the program are chosen by representatives from the participating libraries and care is taken to include a variety of genres.
What a cool way to encourage reading and friendly competition.

With yesterday being national dog day we found this story to be fitting and you may have seen it. Sparky The Fire Dog was featured during Saturday’s NASCAR race, as it was fire prevention week . The mascot was out on the track with the fire rescue pit crew at the Daytona Coke Zero Sugar 400. They even had a race car designed for Sparky the fire dog.
This is a good reminder to check your smoke alarms.

A Morning Pick Me Up to get your ready for football season, thanks to Michael's Appliance Center!
High school football season is right around the corner and this week Kingston Firefighters trained with the Kingston School's Athletic Department in preparation for the upcoming football season. The Department's EMTs and Paramedics trained on how to safely and effectively begin treatment on an injured player on the field. This effort allows for the best possible patient care in the event of an emergency.
This year the Kingston Fire Department will have a presence with emergency medical providers at every home football game at Dietz Stadium. This is just one more expansion of services the Department is providing since beginning transport EMS service in the City in January of this year.

June 30th 2019 marked the 30th anniversary of the sign-on of radio station Q-92.1 in Poughkeepsie NY which occurred on June 30th 1989.
The station was an immediate hit with it's "soft rock" format and 30 years later it is nice to see Q92 thriving as the Hudson Valley’s 80s to Now!
On behalf of the current team of Chuck Benfer, Chris Marino, Joe Daily, Michelle Taylor, Jana, Delilah and Brett Lobdell thank -"Q" to original owner Dick Novik and kudos to Don Verity, Van Ritshie, Peter Clark and the rest of the original staff for those beginning years that got us to where we are today.
