The year is almost coming to a close, so I have been reflecting a lot these past few days. And something has been on my mind these past few days.👇

I did not achieve the 2023 financial and fitness goals I had hoped for.
Stuff happens, and sometimes things don't go as planned. But on the bright side, this year has been one of my best years for learning, networking, and improving my skills. It's been progress after progress for the last two years. To me, the lessons learned, and personal growth are a huge success that I am incredibly grateful for 🙏

I don't know what success means to you, but despite the highs, lows, and between, I hope you can look back, reflect, and acknowledge that you have at least succeeded in one or two things. You did your best. So Acknowledge and celebrate your wins and milestones.

Friday reflections; 👉More often, we talk about being kind and compassionate towards others. We talk about forgiving and extending grace to others.
But how often do we apply this to ourselves? How often do we forgive ourselves for the mistakes we've made?

In a world where so much is expected from us and when you feel like you've been hard on yourself, pause and remind yourself that you are not perfect and it's not selfish to show yourself kindness.
You deserve the same kindness and compassion that you extend to others. Be gentle with yourself (I am also telling myself this)

Sleep is sweet and good, but it can deceive you 😄!
I almost found an excuse not to work out this morning because I felt like I didn't have enough sleep after waking up to prepare my daughter for school. So I went back to bed and set my alarm so I could wake up after an hour to exercise
But I knew I was lying to myself that I would exercise thereafter. So I quickly threw away the duvet, got my workout gear, warmed up, and started exercising. And that's how I ended up doing a good 45 minutes workout. I now feel so energized. The only workout you'll regret is the one you wanted to do but didn't do.

Did you move your body today? I hope you are not waiting for a perfect time because that may never happen 😊. Also, it's been 18 days and a few hours since you said you start working out😂😂. Time is flying!!

Moving your body every day has the power to improve every part of your body. From your brain, muscles, bones, and lungs to your heart.

And it doesn't have to be about high-impact exercises.
A daily exercise routine can be as simple as blocking out 20-30 minutes of your time to stretch, walk, dance jog, or by taking the stairs.

Since we don't all enjoy doing the same activities, just find something that you love and enjoy( I see people walk and jog at Karura Forest on Saturdays and Sundays). That's their thing. Mine is running and home workouts. Find yours and commit to it and you will be on your way to improving your overall health.

Feel good stretching

Because stretching is incredibly important as it helps:

✔️Relieve post exercise aches and pains
✔️Improves posture

✔️Reduces muscular tension and enhances muscles relaxation

✔️Prepares your body to losen up pre workout

✔️Increases blood supply to your muscles and joints

✔️Decreases the risks of lower back pains

Note to self stretch more often, and always stretch post workout.

When you struggle to find the motivation to keep going, ask yourself why you started your fitness journey in the first place.

Also, think about all the incredible benefits that comes with regular exercise.

Side note, I carried this Tamarind juice from yesterday during my long run to quench my thirst.

𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐫𝐮𝐧 𝐜𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐬

My alarm goes off at 5am and I tell myself, just snooze it for 20 minutes (I was so sleepy 😴). 5.20am, it's the alarm again 😀. Me, with my eyes closed grumbles then says, that was so fast 😀.

I swear I was tempted to continue sleeping and forget about the run. But I couldn't imagine myself missing my morning run then spend the day wishing I ran.

Sometimes the hardest thing about exercise is showing. But I am so glad I showed and managed to run for a good 11kms. And that felt awesome

Also today is a very cold morning, just the perfect 👌 weather for a morning run.

Run by my side; live in my heartbeat;

give strength to my steps.

As the cold surrounds, as the wind pushes me,

I know you surround me.

As the sun warms me, as the rain cleanses me,

I know you are touching me, challenging me, loving me.

And so I give you this run.

Thank you for matching my stride.
