Update: Day 30 of the read the Bible through in 30 days.

I did it!!

I wept as I read the last words of Revelations. Sheer joy that I had finished, a twinge of sadness that the 30 days are over, and overwhelming thankfulness that Christ died and rose again.

It will take a while to put words to how God has used His Word to transform me.

I do know it is the best thing I have ever done to start a new year. Lord willing, I can’t wait to do it again next January.

To God be the glory!!

Update: Day 21 Read the Bible through in 30 days:

I had really good intentions of updating at the halfway mark… now I’m a week past that milestone. 🙌🏻

When I look at my closed Bible and mark where I am now in Ezekiel, it’s crazy how much I’ve read. It truly has be the best use of my time.

All the great things I’ve mentioned before are still a part of my everyday… more joy, peace, and contentment. I’ve also been a better homemaker. God has multiplied my time.

We’ve had snow since last Sunday, and I haven’t been able to leave the mountain. I’m a little (or lot) stir crazy. But I was reminded of what I read in Psalms about the different seasons… all the ice and snow will be gone by next week. Physical seasons change and circumstances change, but praise the Lord, God never changes!

9 days to finishing my goal. A lifetime to continue to grow in grace. To God be the glory!

For those that are following along, Day 12 of the read the Bible through in 30 days:

It's hard to put into words the change that is happening in my heart....

A little background.... I started leading a connect group at our church about six months ago. It's basically Sunday School, but I digress. I LOVE it! I love the women. I love studying Scripture and then leading a discussion. It has been a huge blessing.

What I've realized after spending 2 to 2 1/2 hours a day in the Word these past almost two weeks, is that my tank had been empty.

Yes, studying to lead my connect group had me in the Word regularly, but because my soul had been so weary these past several years, it hasn't been enough.

It's like my gas tank had been empty, but I was only filling it up with a gallon or two each week. It was just enough to get me to the next place, but my gas mileage wasn't as good, and I was on fumes most of the time.

Now that I'm filling my tank completely, on a daily basis, I can go further and more efficiently. I'm not wasting time having to constantly refuel with a single gallon only to know I'm about to run out.

I certainly don't have it all figured out, but if your soul is weary, get in the Word. Get in the Word longer than you think you have time for. Saturate your mind and soul with the absolute truth that only comes from the Word of God.

Put down your devotional book and pick up your Bible.

No, you won't understand everything you're reading. Yes, it will feel hard in the beginning. But... (the truth always comes after the but) you will NEVER get from a devotional what you get from the Word itself.

You don't have to start in the Old Testament. Start in the gospels or your favorite New Testament book. But start.

I know God promises His Word never comes back void. It's true. Prove to yourself it's true.

While I didn't start this endeavor of Bible reading with really any expectations of how it would benefit me, the blessings are more numerous than I can count...

My soul is refreshed.
My focus is better.
My prayer life is a million times better.
My time has been multiplied.
I'm getting things done around my home that I've put off for years.
I'm cooking and cleaning my kitchen daily.
I'm meeting in person with friends.
I'm sleeping better.
I'm waking up excited about the day.

And these are just the things off the top of my head.

I want everyone to experience what I'm experiencing. There are a million reasons you can justify why this is good for me but not for you, but if you were to try... you may find yourself with an exploding faith, an ease in your spirit, multiplied time, and closeness with God that's been missing that you didn't know how to get back.

I want that for you.

Happy Friday! I'm off to declutter my bathroom... ;)

Day 6 of read the Bible through in 30 days…

I’m so thankful Corie Clark for telling me about this reading plan.

Spending hours everyday in the Word has been the best thing I’ve ever done to start a new year.

I’ve mourned the death of Moses, cheered Joshua on as he lead the Israelites into the promised land, and was reminded of Jael and the tent peg…

My goal throughout these 30 days is to know God more. But, God, in His infinite mercy has brought new life to my prayer life, made me more productive, and has given me restful sleep.

Gods Word is alive indeed!

Day 3 of the Read the Bible in 30 days challenge:

Reflections thus far…

The first day felt daunting… I read 42 chapters in Genesis. It felt good to finish, but I found myself worrying about whether or not I would/will be able to carry on with this pace.

The second day felt less daunting. I found myself not stressing about finishing and just enjoying what I was reading.

Today, day 3, I woke up excited about getting into the Word. I’m finding my rhythm, and it feels good to spend more time than I normally would with the Lord. I’ve read through Genesis, Exodus, and Leviticus. Onto Numbers tomorrow.

This will be my 5th time reading the Bible through. I LOVE the Word of God.

God’s Word changed/s me from the inside out.

The biggest change came when I stopped reading the Bible to get something out of it. 12 years ago I started reading the Bible because I wanted to know the character of God. That’s when the Bible came alive for me. It’s all about Him.

I’m finding in these first 3 days the Holy Spirit is reminding me of all the truths I have studied in years past. While I’m not studying in depth during these 30 days, I’m making notes or snapping a picture of verses I’ll go back and study throughout the year.

The Word is alive, and I am thankful to be feasting these first 3 days of 2024!

The last fews years have felt like pretend years... they just didn't feel real. 2020 was a dumpster fire. 2021 my mom was diagnosed with ALS. 2022 my mom died. 2023 was trying to figure out how to navigate life without my mom. As is life, there are always good times mixed with the hard times, but on the scale, hard has seemed heavier.

As I've been preparing for the start of 2024, I had zero intention of doing anything that would set me up for failure or disappointment.

Recently I met with some sweet friends who filled my empty cup. One of my friends talked about how she dedicates January to the Lord and reads the entire Bible in 30 days.

The whole Bible in 30 days...

I quizzed her on how that's even physically possible.

Turns out it's about 2 to 2.5 hours a day.

After I got home and the days following, the Lord kept reminding me about that conversation.

After praying about it, I knew that the Lord was calling me to dedicate the month of January to Him. Regardless of what 2024 brings, it will be infinitely better being bathed in the Word of God.

So here I go headfirst into 2024 committed to reading the entire Bible by the end of the month.

I'm happy to report Day 1 is complete!

If you want to learn more about it, my sweet friend has more info and several helpful tips. https://www.corieclark.com/blog/how-to-read-the-bible-in-thirty-days
