A big thank you to all my friends and family that came out to the songwriter showcase tonight at The Reeves Theater. While I did win the audience vote, the judges picked a different winner. Congratulations to all the songwriters tonight, everyone was a winner in my book and I was just honored to be there.

I received an exciting message this morning, I was selected as the wild card for the Singer/Songwriter Showcase final at The Reeves Theater & Cafe on Wednesday night June 26th at 7pm. So make plans to be there, come early and enjoy some great food in the cafe and then stay for the music. The crowd will get to vote again for the winner. For the final there will be 3 judges and the crowd's vote will count 25%, like a 4th judge. Myself and the 5 other songwriters get to perform 3 original songs each. The winner moves on to an appearance on The Martha Bassett Show. I'd love to see you all there!

I know this is last minute, but due to a cancellation I'll be performing in the songwriter night competition at The Reeves Theater & Cafe 129 West Main Street, Elkin, NC tonight at 7 pm. Come out if you can, the audience votes on the winner out of 12 songwriters. Come here some great local writers and vote for your favorite!

The debut of the Pen-N-Carol album that I produced also has another somewhat hidden debut. Very proud of my son Matthew Holder making his debut as a recording session player on the banjo and acoustic guitar on the song Overwhelming Love, written by Chris Powell .
Also special thank you to Chester McMillan for teaching Matthew Holder banjo, guitar, mandolin, fiddle, etc. Chester also gave me start on guitar many moons ago, just like he has countless children over the years
