Starting late next year, your existing T-Mobile phone will magically turn into a satellite phone, capable of messaging from anywhere in the US, even where there's zero cell service. This new service is thanks to SpaceX's new Starlink 2.0 satellites, which will have a previously-undisclosed antenna dedicated to communicating directly with cell phones in the existing PCS band (AKA 1900 MHz, or band 2/25 for phones).
