The Alexandria Fire Department responded to a burning utility pole near the intersection of Downing and Elizabeth Streets this afternoon around 1:00 p.m. A source at the scene reported that it appeared someone had been attempting to burn leaves nearby. Another resident in the area reported a power outage, though it is unclear if the two incidents are connected. (unofficial)
