Jessica Simien Lofton is an entrepreneur, digital creator and cultural critic with over a decade of experience in public relations, integrated marketing and blogging. The Jackson, Mississippi native currently freelances as a communications consultant and serves as Co-Owner of Lofton & Co., a family-run hair, body and home goods company. At home, Jessica is known as “Wifey Pooh” to her husband Tony

and Mommy to their two sons, Marley and Mason. Less than a year after announcing her “retirement” from lifestyle and mommy blogging, Jessica experienced a life change that led her back to her first love of writing. A life-long believer in Christ, Jessica had begun to learn what it truly meant to be a Christian. She quickly realized that much of what she believed was based off of misguided teachings and made up philosophies. As she started to unlearn religion and entered into true relationship with Jesus Christ, she felt a calling to return to blogging and content creation, but in a different way. In October 2019, with the help of her beloved friend Elizabeth Evans, Jessica created what she believes will be her lifelong cause. UNLEARNING is a platform designed to connect with others who are hungry to know Christ and live according to His Word, while simultaneously unlearning incorrect ways of living and replacing that information with what is accurate and true. It covers personal issues and struggles, health related matters and how to cultivate and maintain healthy relationships. In other words, UNLEARNING is for all of us…no matter where we come from or what stage of life we’re in. While Jessica uses this website for many reasons ranging from encouraging people in their faith to sharing bits of her everyday life, it is mainly a reflection of her own personal lessons that she is learning from God daily. BALTIMORE, MARYLAND – Videos alleging that flying insects were dropped on attendees at the AFRAM Juneteenth Festival are circulating on TikTok and causing concern for many. According to their website, is a free festival and "celebration of African American life, music and culture" that takes place every year and is presented by City Recreation and Parks. This year's festival took place during Juneteenth Weekend at Druid Hill Park.

As soon as I heard about this, my "spidey senses" started to tingle and I immediately thought of the genetically modified mosquitoes that were released in Texas and Florida within the past couple of years. The fact that the festival did not – and as of the time of this post, still has not – released a statement about the insects to mitigate online theories spreading is a little sketchy. Jessica Simien is a Digital Content Creator and Public Relations and Media Strategist from Jackson, Mississippi by way of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She is the Founder of Simien Media Group and The Mom Society.

Jessica is a graduate of Jackson State University and the University of Southern Mississippi where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations and a master’s degree in Public Relations, respectively.

The 30-year-old is the voice behind her self-titled blog, JessicaSimien.com. Initially started as a hobby and a way to keep her skills sharp, Jessica’s blog has grown to become a source for lifestyle and parenting related content for millennials women as well as a place to read, watch and learn about Jessica’s daily musings.

Since launching her blog, Jessica has worked with many global brands, hosted a number of events and participated on several panels ranging from entrepreneurship to natural hair. She is active in her community and church and frequently speaks to high school and college students about blogging and media.
