The twins have reunited, and I can only imagine the reunion!! What a great blessing to have grown up listening to their music from my pr***en years on! As we mourn the loss of Ms. Sandra Crouch, we get to recall great memories of her, and how she put her heart into whatevere she did, regardless if it was directing choirs,being the protective twin sister of her twin brother Andrae, singing , preaching , or making that tambourine just plain oh testify! Growing up in a wonderful country church enviroment, where the tambourine was such an intricate part of the sound and expression of our worship, she became one of many who inspired so many of us upclose and from afar, who gravitated to her rythmic ways of expression, by the mastery of how she handled the tambourine! Even though I'm not in settings these days, and actually haven't been in quite sometime for this heartfelt expression, I still keep mine handy,JUST in case I meet up with my lifetime friends, who were tambourine queens as well ,back in the day! Even though the sound of the joyous sound of the tambourine is strangely silent, and missing from many church settings today. The tambourine was part of the sound of a people in generations past who found and understood like Miriam who played the tambourine, after crossing the Red sea, with the awareness of the drowning and defeat of the enemies that had enslaved them and ultimately persued them, with most likely the intent to capture and return them to slavery! That's the sound of liberty that was always expressed when she played. The tambourine has it's place, and thank you for the passion you demonstrated and reminding us why we had such a love of playing it! Ms. Sandra Crouch, a part of your legacy will be known as one who gave it a voice from the smallest to the largest audiences in your lifetime! May your Legacy of such freedom of expression be passed onto this and future generations, and may they too find value in the JOYFILLED sound! Alva@RMG

Many things of value can be passed on to another generation, but THE MOST valuable treasure that can be "Passed On" is Faith in God! I am persuaded that Faith that is not tested, cannot be trusted to pass on to another generation as genuine Faith! Even when genuine Faith has been passed down to one generation , there will come a time that even that Faith will be rightfully tested for that genration to genuinely " Pass it on!" I was moved a day ago by these simple , but powerful words from my dear childhood sister/friend, as she stood in a hospital room, beside her daughter, who is experiencing a health challenge, and I was keenly aware that we both share great treasure, becuase we became acquainted with the ONE in whom we both trust,by observing the lives and Faith of our parents, and many from their generation! ALL I can say is, "Faith of our Fathers living still" Inspite of ALL that has come to challenge us along our personal journeys! Which causes me to ponder the thought that, NO man or woman can "legally impart, or 'Pass on" that which he or she does not rightfully, or legally posess! No we don't determine the outcomes, BUT we trust the ONE that does, even in times of long and and exhauted waiting, I am reminded of the lyrics from a great Hymn with original lyrics written by Annie Johnson Flint, born in the 1800s, that say's.......

"He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength when the labors increase;
To added afflictions He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.
When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources
Our Father’s full giving is only begun.
Fear not that thy need shall exceed His provision,
Our God ever yearns His resources to share;
Lean hard on the arm everlasting, availing;

What I know for sure is that,FAITH MATTERS, not only for us, but for those coming from behind! So the next time you check your Portfolio, make sure that genuine Faith is at the top of the treasuretrove you "Will"to leave behind! Alva@RMG

At Relay Media it is our honor to always pause during the entire month of January, to highlight the life of Dr. Martin Luther King! Dr. King's Birthday, even though it has come and gone, (January 15th) and the memory of all he was able to acheive, and the Legacy he was able to leave in his short life span, will always be with us! Many of us regardless of ethnicity, lived during that time find it worthwhile to continue to celebrate this History maker, and honor his contribution to our world, and the price he was willing to pay!

A memorable moment shared with us several years ago that is so worth revisiting again! Dr. Alveda King shared much with Relay Media Group, of the legacy of her family, as she reflected on much of the lost and cost she experience first hand by those of her family members who's lives were taken during a very pivotal time in history; she also shared of the amazing contribution of her Uncle Dr. Martin Luther King's powerful speech on August 28th, 1963, as their legacy was continuing to unfold. Every year in the month of January, since we were honored for 2 days to interview Dr. Alveda King,here at an Educational Center in Seminole County, we've continued to reflect on much that she was able to share with us one on one , and with the students of that learning facility, as they celebrated the memory, Birthday, Dr. Martin Luther King holiday, and the contribution of her uncle Dr. Martin Luther King. What a memorable time to have her share with a younger generation, who got to hear of such a "Dreamer" that they will never get to meet, but now benefit from , who was willing to pay for with his life, to see much of his dream to come to pass in their generation! One of the greatest realizations in life is when we recognize how wealthy we are with rich stories from generations past, coupled with a gift call TIME! When we honor these precious gifts entrusted to us, others will treasure them as a memory years to come, and reflect on how we honored others with treasures of our family history, and our Time!

Mrs. Rebecca 'aka' Granny, did more in that kitchen of hers on purpose, than one would realize until time had passed on! She shared more than cooking lessons , but some real life lessons that were so wisely passed on to her children and grandchildren, who would continue her legacy by doing the same. Now 3 generations later those rich, wise, and witty ingredients that were absorbed, are now being purposely passed on by her granddaughter aka' "Chocolate mama" who sat and listened not only to her granny, but her mom as well. Listening is important! Who you listen to matters even more, but just remember what you pass on will matter for generations to come! Check the ingredients!

One of the most powerful Hymns of the Church,written in 1943 by Mrs. Ruth Caye Jones of Pittsburg Pennsylvannia , who was born in 1902, and transitioned in 1972. It is reported that Mrs. Jones was a self-taught pianist and organist; she was married to Mr. Bert Jones, a pastor in Pennsylvania, and together they worked in the evangelism field.

Late in 1943 Mrs Jones was reading the headlines of local newspaper that was reporting severe casualties, related to World War 2, and the concerning slow progress of the allied troops who were moving up the boot of Italy.

As a mother of 5, and as a wife of a now very busy Pastor who Sheparded many, she began reading the passage in 2Timothy 3:1, which says, “In the last days perilous times shall come”, and as she continued reading the headline news, it seemed to her that those perilous times had already come; just as many of us feel today. Rationing was hitting those at home hard, like inflation is hitting many currently in 2023. Discouragement and despair was everywhere. How long could people continue to live in times like that?/like THESE? It is reported that Mrs. Jones took out a small notepad from her apron pocket and began to write down some words. A melody came to her that seemed to fit the words she wrote; she had no formal music training, but she wasn’t trying to write a song that would make her famous., she was actually just jotting down thoughts on paper. But, it happened to be the right song for that moment in history. Everyone needed encouragement! Everyone needed assurance! Everyone was needing some kind of solid wisdom and certain instruction, JUST as we do now! And even though I've sang this song much of my lifetime with a B3 backing me up, Let these words with or without music offer Great Wisdom to us ALL!~Alva@RMG
