Welcome to Chicago Voz, a new community online magazine that creates healthy digital communities by providing news, resources, a business directory, historical information, and other original content focusing on Chicago neighborhoods such as Pilsen. Chicago Voz, formerly the Pilsen Portal, aims to serve as a voice for Chicago communities by highlighting the art, culture, perspectives, local busine

sses, organizations, and community leaders that continue to shape our neighborhoods. The Pilsen Portal was originally created as part of the LISC Chicago Smart Communities Program to provide a digital portal for community news, resources, information, and original content for readers in and outside Pilsen. Chicago Voz aims to expand upon the Pilsen Portal’s mission by engaging more community writers and citizen journalists to provide unique, in-depth perspectives on Pilsen and other Chicago neighborhoods. Chicago Voz is generously supported in part by LISC Chicago and the McCormick Foundation. Chicago Voz content is created by a team of community writers, a Managing Editor, and an editorial board, all of whom are committed to providing a fair and balanced perspective on the stories and news from our neighborhoods. Chicago Voz also encourages citizen journalists to become part of its mission to create healthy digital communities by creating and submitting original content (e.g., articles, art, photography). All contributors to Chicago Voz will have their work credited to them
