We GROW when we GO OUT of our comfort zones --- I did not expect that at the age of 34, I would have to experience change again...
[2009] In my Jollibee Operations life, I was posted at stores that were far from home except for my last assignment where I was able to stay with family as the branch was near our place.
[2014] After that came the opportunity to be part of Marketing (TMO), so I immediately took the chance and went straight ahead in making Cebu City my home (and on my own) for 5 years.
[2019] Gratefully, I was elevated to lead my own Marketing Team (TMM) but this entailed transferring to Davao City. I accepted the challenge knowing that while my responsibilities and the people I get to engage are bigger, I have the comfort of knowing that I have the expertise in terms of what is needed from me in the RBU.
[2020] The pandemic came and a lot happened in the organization - I still stayed in Davao for a full year but eventually, went home to Iloilo as the situation was getting worse. This was also the time that Visayas & Mindanao got merged and my assignment became VisMin all throughout the covid saga.
[2023] At this time, I was already practicing Trade Marketing for a good 10 years (Sr. TMM). I know my ways and still have the enthusiasm to introduce new ideas, exciting initiatives and trailblazing projects. I just felt safe, warm and unstoppable. I knew that I am able to serve my RBU, our stores and my team with best that I have and that they also so deserve.
And now, my fairy tale story has to end. As our Marketing Team geared up for a re-organization early this year, a new department opened up and my leaders offered it to me to lead and build it from the ground. I trusted their decision and I am equally thankful that they put their confidence on me, to take on a new role. I took the risk - knowing I am no expert yet to handle the assignment. But since all the "greats" were also once beginners, I just have to thrust myself forward and do what must be done to succeed.
In a matter of days, I will officially be based in our Head Office in Ortigas. I will be also be living again on my own as I am relocated, something I never expected to happen again. 14 years in Jollibee has taught me that we need to stretch out and be in uncomfortable spaces to grow and be transformational as a person (and as a leader) --- and coming from what I shared, I can now claim that I have lived all over the country because of Jollibee (What a ride! 😄). But I know that all of this will be nothing short of learnings and opportunities, so it's all worth it.
Thank you for the EXCITING 14 YEARS with you Jollibee! You never fail to surprise me from time to time. I put my trust to my Marketing leaders, who also gave their trust to me to face this new pivot in my career. I am 100% ready for this new challenge with a JOYFUL, PURPOSEFUL, PASSIONFUL and GRATEFUL HEART! ❤️
Our greatest enemy will always be ourselves. The moment we stay comfortable, we will always be where we are (if you do the same things, you get the same results). It is scary to step out and expose yourself to failure. But remember that no success is without sacrifice, pain and hardwork. So grab that change, and make it your winning milestone!
Lastly, let's all be kind always! Have a jolly day! 🙂
