Getting ready for an interview shoot today. Bringing the trusty Sony FS7, A7iii and the A7R4 as a backup or third shot if required. The rest is all lighting, tripods and sound equipment. Also bringing the DJI Ronin RS2 and Mavic mini 3 pro for some B-roll and establishing shots.

We found this strange plant while filming in British Colombia this summer. It is called Ghost Pipe.

The ghost pipe, also called the ghost plant or co**se plant, is a perennial wildflower that gets its name from its shape and its pure, pale white colour. Unlike most other plants, this species does not produce chlorophyll, the green pigment used for photosynthesis. As a result, it is completely white (including its stem and scale-like “leaves”) and non-photosynthetic. It obtains energy through myco-heterotrophy — a relationship where plants obtain food through parasitism rather than photosynthesis. This plant relies on a large network of roots and fungi to “steal” energy from surrounding plants.

This summer we stayed at a Yoga Ashram in British Colombia. It was such an amazing experience. We were working on a documentary about mental health and healing. We participated in morning Yoga classes and tried to fully immerse ourselves in the experience. We met some amazing people who were so welcoming and open to sharing their experience and knowledge with us. Thank You

This Summer we had the chance to be involved in something amazing. We have been working with Walk For The Wounded over the last three years and this year we travelled to Alberta to film part of this years West Walk from Canmore. We decided the best way to capture the scale of the event was to join the teams on the first day leaving from Dead Man’s Flats to the Nakiska Ski area over a mountain pass.

We walked for around 15KM while filming the teams on their 46.9 KM walk. We made it to over 2000 meters in elevation as the first 8KM were straight up over a ridge to the hill below. We didn’t think we had what it would take to accomplish this section of the walk yet the energy of the group pushed us along. I can’t fully describe the sense of accomplishment we felt for being able to keep up with the teams on their walk. Congratulations to all of the teams who participated and raised over $20,000 for Wounded Warriors Canada.

I love what I do. Specifically wildlife photography. This morning I was up early saw some deer, and had the chance to watch this beautiful bald eagle in one of the most beautiful locations I have seen so far in Kootenay Bay British Columbia Canada.

We just finished work on a beautiful penthouse condo shoot and had the chance to use this setup for the first time for some of the detail shots. It’s amazing to have autofocus on a cinema prime lens. We would highly recommend this combination.

Walk For the Wounded is a short documentary being submitted by my son Rowan to the My Rode Reel international film competition.

Walk For The Wounded is a short documentary following the first and second annual walk to raise money in support of Wounded Warriors Canada. Wounded Warriors Canada is a national mental health service provider utilizing clinical best practices and evidence-based care to create an environment of compassion, resiliency and hope for Canada’s Veterans, First Responders and their families.

The walk is 175KM taking 36 hours to complete. Every hour on the hour the participants stop and do 22 pushups for the 22 service men and women in the United States who die each day to su***de.
