VALE: Richard Daniel 03.06.1958-20.05.2024 (aged 65)
If ever there was a funeral that was never anything like a funeral other than the sight of a casket at the front, it was the farewell send-off for my friend & colleague, Richard Daniel yesterday 04.06.2024.
Yes, there were tears as we remembered a loving, humble man whom we would never see again in this lifetime but there was much more laughter & joy for a man who touched SO many lives with positive hope, encouragement, support and love.
Richard was an achiever but never a boast came from his mouth;
He was a doer but always slowed or stopped to take others along with him;
He was a visionary who saw his own dreams revealed as much as he encouraged & supported the dreams of others;
He was a loving husband and father who, despite being busy, always had time for his wife, children & family;
He was a friend from the moment you met him;
He was a Child of God who preached the Gospel loud and clear without saying a word.
For us at Aussie Grown Radio, he gifted us the Aussie Grown Across The Nation (AGATN) programme, developed in-house at 106five FM (now Salt 106.5) along with the website, music, scheduling programme software, mixing desk, boom with microphone and a number of other pieces of equipment AND soundproofing that was being ripped out at CV, which completed our home studio setup.
He said, "Why don't you do something with that show you were doing?"
I said, "Because 106five own it, the music and everything associated with it."
He replied, "It's nothing without you, Hank. No-one could do anything with it without your knowledge of the Australian Christian Music scene. You ARE Aussie Grown!"
It was THIS encouragement that saw us relaunch AGATN on 3 stations in November 2016 and saw us gather host stations to now broadcast across Australia on 26 stations (incl. 8 secular) and network to 2 Christian radio networks in the USA.
God's calling on Richard, encouraging him to live his dreams and passions saw The Kingdom impacted through COUNTLESS other people and organizations.
While we may say he is gone far too soon, God knows Richard's work on this planet was complete when He took Richard home.
Now, He will raise others, probably influenced by Richard himself to, not replace him, but carry on God's work through others, in many other ways.
To , Mel & Matt, surviving brother Terry, be comforted in your earthly lost of Richard in the sure knowledge of the resounding words of Jesus, "Well done, good and faithful servant, come, your reward is in Heaven."
