Happy Halloween, everyone! It’s finally here: Day 13 of 2023’s 13 Days of Hallowtober event! Our topic this year has been werewolf films and as such we present a round table discussion of “The Wolf Man” (1941) and its remake, “The Wolfman” (2010). The original is a classic starring Lon Chaney Jr. and Claude Rains. The remake stars Benicio Del Toro and Anthony Hopkins. Does it hold a candle to its predecessor? Not likely, but it does have its merits and we take a deep dive into both movies and their place in werewolf film history!

This is presented as both a VIDEO and AUDIO podcast, and both links are on the web page. We showed movie ads in the video, and those will be posted on the web link also.

Day 10: On this episode of Then Is Now’s 2023 event 13 Days of Hallowtober, Juan Ortiz from the B-Movie Cast joins Re-Gor to discuss the Mexican horror classic “House of Terror” aka “La Casa Del Terror” starring comedian Tin-Tan, and surprisingly, Lon Chaney Jr. shows up as the Wolf Man!! An interesting and fun flick, we also discuss the horribly butchered, unintelligible version of the film called “Face of the Screaming Werewolf!” Definitely a fascinating discussion you should check out! Day 9: Once again, MyKill and the Prince Regent of EDM, Dantes Alexander, join Re-Gor to discuss the relatively new film “Werewolves Within” (2021) on this episode of 2023’s 13 Days of Hallowtober event. Starring Sam Richardson and Milana Vayntrub who you may know as the AT&T girl! The film is a comedy with definite influence from other werewolf features of the past. We were divided on our opinion of it, so check it out! While it did have a theatrical release, there are no newspaper ads for it, just listings. But check out our take on this crazy flick!

Day 7: On this episode of Then Is Now’s 13 Days of Hallowtober event for 2023, our werewolf discussion continues with “Cursed” from 2005, directed by horror legend Wes Craven and starring Joshua Jackson, Christina Ricci, and Jesse Eisenberg. The film is kind of a mess and we dive into its troubled production, but also pull out the (few) good things about it. Being from 2005, there were a scant few newspaper movie ads for it, so we posted two as well as a scathing review on the web page. Enjoy!

Day 6: MyKill and Re-Gor tackle the little-known werewolf film “Wolves” (2014) on this episode of Then Is Now’s 2023 event, 13 Days of Hallowtober! The movie stars Jason Momoa, Lucas Till, and veteran character actor Stephen McHattie, and is a refreshing direction as it doesn’t rely on past films to shape its story. Sadly, because it was 2014, there were no movie ads, just listings, so we posted one that contained the logo, and a press photo from a horrible review. Enjoy!

As I delve into all of the horror films from the 1970s, I’m happy to present my take on the 1970 giallo classic, “The Bird with the Crystal Plumage.” Horror legend Dario Argento hits the ground running in his directorial debut with this exciting and thrilling tale of an American writer in Rome who witnesses a murder and gets caught up in solving it which may make him a target of the killer! This great horror film is not overly gory and has just the right elements to keep you on the edge of your seat throughout. Check it out!

Next up on my reviews of the films of John Saxon is 1979’s “The Glove,” which plays like a failed TV pilot. Saxon goes up against the imposing Rosey Grier who wields, you guessed it, a glove that gives him super strength. A mostly forgotten film from the 70s, I analyze this movie which has some good strengths, but is ultimately flawed. Check it out!
