Nobody does seafood quite like New England. From lobster rolls to fried clams, there’s something worth celebrating about the classic summertime foods.
For 33 years the Hampton Beach Seafood Festival has welcomed guests from all over to have some New England fun. This year’s festival will be no exception, festival director Nicholas Bridle said, but will have some added energy.

Beer made by local breweries is easy to find on tap at Seacoast bars, but ask a bar owner about their offerings for locally distilled liquors and the question becomes more difficult. There are a handful of reasons that homebrew distilling hasn’t sprung up in the same way that microbreweries have, but look for the right brands and it’s easy to find nationally renowned flavors bottled and sold from right in the Northeast.

Most people know at least one person who has it bad for hot sauce. Whether topping off a bowl of chili or dabbing up a sandwich, they’ll put extra spice on anything. The New England Hot Sauce Fest, happening Saturday, July 30, at Smuttynose Brewing Co. in Hampton, is a homecoming for people like these and has an open invitation for anyone dipping their wings into the surprisingly nuanced world of hot sauce.

This familiar beach staple has more going on behind the scenes than you might think. Ice cream recipes vary widely, especially between shops that make their own. There are many different varieties of homemade ice cream down the coast, and while they probably won’t tell you their secret recipe, these ice cream places will gladly send you on your way with a cone piled high with their signature scoops.
