« Yippee Ki‐Yay l’indien »

Synopsis: Un policier new-yorkais, John McClane, est séparé de sa femme Holly, cadre dans une puissante multinationale japonaise, la Nakatomi Corporation. Venu à Los Angeles passer les fêtes avec elle, il se rend à la tour Nakatomi où le patron donne une grande soirée. Tandis que John s’isole pour téléphoner, un groupe de terroristes allemands, dirigé par Hans Gruber, pénètre dans l’immeuble.

Nous y voilà « PIEGE DE CRISTAL (1988) » le film responsable de ce calendrier de l’avent et qui lança la vague des films de « 1 seul type contre les terroristes », le film de Noël par excellence !
Réalisé avec le génie de John McTiernan (Predator) Die Hard met en scène un p’tit nouveau Bruce Willis contre Alan Rickman (Robin des Bois) et ses sbires.
Le film fut un souffle d’air frais pour le cinéma d’action de l’époque. Et dire que le rôle fut un temps proposé à Schwarzenegger et Stallone qui refusèrent, laissant ainsi la place à un nouveau visage en la personne de Willis qui redéfinira ainsi le personnage du action hero !

“Yippee Ki-Yay Motherf**ka”

Here we are, “DIE HARD (1988)”, the movie whose responsible for this advent calendar and which launched the wave of “one guy against the terrorists” films, and the perfect Christmas movie! Made with the genius of John McTiernan (Predator), Die Hard features a new Bruce Willis against Alan Rickman (Robin Hood) and his henchmen. The film was a breath of fresh air for action cinema at the time. And that the role was once offered to Schwarzenegger or Stallone who refused, thus leaving room for a new face in the person of Willis, who redefining the character of the action hero!

« Les ailes du mulet »
Synopsis: Un avion rempli de prisonniers est détourné. Seulement Nic Cage est présent dans l’avion puis après, Bim Bam Boom dans ta gu**le !

LES AILES DE L’ENFER (1997) c’est la quintessence du cinéma d’action 90s, tout est résumé dans le mulet de Nicolas Cage : In your face , WTF et patriotique à souhait !

Note: J’ai vu ce film dans un cinéma à sa sortie et y a eu une coupure en plein milieu du film, ensuite le film a redémarré et y avait plus de son ! Best experience ciné de ma vie !

“Gros Con Air »
Plot: A plane full of prisoners is hijacked. Only Nic Cage is present on the plane then to kick their ass !

CON AIR (1997) is the quintessence of 90s action cinema, everything is said in Nicolas Cage’s mullet: In your face, WTF and patriotic as can be!
Note: I saw this film in a cinema and there was a cut in the middle of the film, then the film restarted and there was no more sound! Best cinema experience of my life!

« Terminator Vs Die Soft »

Synopsis : Dans le futur, un commando terroriste, dirigé par un cyborg ultra-puissant, fait irruption dans un hôpital et prend en otage une vingtaine de personnes parmi lesquelles se trouve la fille du président, qui ne va pas t**der à devenir l’objet de négociations. Pour la sauver les flics envoient John Kreese de Karaté Kid pour faire le ménage…

SHADOWCHASER (1992) ou Piège de Nuit ou Projet Romulus, ou Tuez l’Androïde (mon préf) ou (mettre ici le titre de votre choix) est un mix entre Terminator et Piège de Cristal, avec le budget, la classe et l’intelligence en moins. le film reste malgré tout fun à regarder avec son lot d’explosion, de punchlines bourrine.
Avec Frank Zagarino ( Shadowchaser 2,3,4)
aussi expressif qu’un bulot et Martin Kove (Cobra Kai)

Despite everything, the film remains fun to watch with its share of explosions and nasty punchlines. With Frank Zagarino (Shadowchaser 2,3,4) as expressive as a whelk and Martin Kove (Cobra Kai)

« Bouffonnerie et coups de tatanes »

Synopsis. Un gang de criminels prend en otage un immeuble à Hong Kong pour voler les joyaux d’une couronne Russe. Une star de cinéma d’action minable et sa doublure cascade : un ancien des forces spéciales sont sur place et vont tout faire pour stopper la terreur….

« MELTDOWN : TERREUR À HONG KONG (1995) » et d’abord un pamphlet à l’encontre de Jackie Chan dont le réalisateur Wong Jing ne c’est pas du tout entendu lors du tournage du film Nicky Larson, 2 ans auparavant. Jet Li joue les gros bras au beau milieu des bouffonneries insupportables de Jackie Cheung qui campe une star du cinéma d’action pas vraiment doué au combat et complètement débile. Le film est sauvé par quelques fights et des scènes d’action vraiment cool chorégraphiées par Corey Yuen (La Legend de Fong Sai-Yuk, Le transporteur) On retiendra cette scène WTF d’un hélicoptère se crachant à l’intérieur de l’immeuble.

Note: La bande annonce américaine est ultra mensongère par contre!

Plot: A criminal gang takes a building in Hong Kong hostage to steal the Russian crown jewels. A lousy action movie star and his stunt double: a former special forces officer are on site and will do everything to stop the terror….
« HIGH RISK (1995) » and firstly a pamphlet against Jackie Chan, whose director Wong Jing was in trouble during the filming of City Hunter in 1993. Jet Li plays the tough guy with the stupidity of Jackie Cheung who plays an action movie star who he didn’t know how to fight and completely dumb. The movie is saved by some cool fights and action scenes choreographed by Corey Yuen (The Legend of Fong Sai-Yuk, The Transporter) We will remember this WTF scene of a helicopter crashing inside the building .
Note: The American trailer is extremely misleading on the other hand!

« Toujours parier sur le noir »

Synopsis : Un dangereux terroriste détourne un avion mais ce retrouve face-à-face avec le passager numéro 57: célèbre expert de sécurité John Cutter qui entend bien ne pas le laisser s’échapper...

Après le succès de « Piège de Cristal » et « 58min pour vivre » tous les studios voulaient son « Die Hard » et c’est le cas de la Warner qui mit vite en chantier ce « PASSAGER 57(1992) »
avec la recette miracle d’un bon actionner des 90s, à savoir un héros badass et cool avec des punchlines de la mort (« tu aimes jouer à la roulette? laisse moi te filer un tuyau: toujours parier sur le noir) un méchant charismatique Bruce Payne (La forteresse noire) qui a une dent contre le héros et beaucoup de gunfights, de karaté, d’explosions. Avec également Elisabeth Hurley (Austin Powers) qui joue les badgirl avec un flingue !

Note: Le film fut proposé à Steven Seagal, Stallone et Eddy Murphy mais faute de dispo c’est finalement Wesley Snipes qui eut le rôle amorçant sa carrière dans le cinéma d’action des 90s : Démolition Man, Drop Zone, ou encore Blade.

“Always bet on black.”
Plot: A dangerous terrorist hijacks a plane but finds himself face to face with passenger number 57: famous security expert John Cutter who intends not to let him escape...
After the success of “Die Hard” and “Die Harder » all the studios wanted their “Die Hard” and this is the case with Warner who quickly started work on this “PASSENGER 57 (1992)” with the classic recipe of a good actioner from the 90s, namely a badass and cool hero with punchlines (“do you like playing roulette? let me give you a tip: always bet on black) a charismatic villain Bruce Payne (The Keep) who has a grudge against the hero and gunfights, karate, explosions. Also featuring Elisabeth Hurley (Austin Powers) who plays the badgirl with a gun!
Note: The film was offered to Steven Seagal, Stallone and Eddy Murphy but due to lack of schedule it was ultimately Wesley Snipes who got the role, initiating a shift in 90s action cinema: Demolition Man, Drop Zone, or Blade.

« Les nuques longues font du ski»

Synopsis: Un flic en vacances reprend du service dans une station de montagne lorsque celle-ci est infiltrée par de violents criminels.

« CRACKERJACK (1994) » reprend la recette Die Hard mais à la montagne, dans un téléfilm un peu mou mais avec de l’action honnête. Feat Thomas Ian Griffith (Karate Kid 3) dans le rôle d’un sous John McClane. À ses côtés Nastassja Kinski (Paris Texas) qui joue les potiches venu prendre son cachet d’intermittent du spectacle.

Synopsis : Un groupe de terroristes prend d’assaut une base militaire américaine qui abrite des missiles nucléaires, dont il menace le Pentagone. C’était sans compter sur le Major Frank Cross, l’élite de l’armée américaine venu casser des bouches »

Réalisé par le frenchie Frédéric Forestier (Le Boulet) tout juste âgé de 26 ans qui signe avec « ÉTAT D’URGENCE (1997) » son tout premier film avec la star Dolph Lundgren amorçant son entrée dans l’ère des Direct-to-Dvd low budget. Néanmoins cette production Nu Image est plutôt bien servie par un réalisateur inventif qui, malgré un scénario convenu se situant entre un Die Hard et un The Rock (les millions de dollars en moins) propose un film d’action 90s authentique avec un rythme bien soutenu. On retiendra cette fabuleuse scène de poursuite en voiture sur les toits, vraiment ingénieuse !

Bonus: Le doublage de la VF est genial avec Daniel Beretta (Schwarzenegger)et Pierre Hatet (Christopher Lloyd)

Directed by the frenchie Frédéric Forestier (Le Boulet) just 26 years old who made his very first film with “THE PEACEKEEPER (1997)” with Dolph Lundgren beginning a new career into the Direct-to-Dvd low budget. However, this Nu Image production is rather well served by an inventive director who, despite an agreed scenario somewhere between a Die Hard and a The Rock (the millions of dollars less) offers an authentic 90s action movie. Check it out this fabulous car chase scene on the roofs, truly ingenious!

Synopsis: Pour faire libérer leur leader, des terroristes détournent un 747 et menacent de faire exploser son chargement de gaz mortel au-dessus de Washington. Un commando d’élite, transporté par avion furtif, entre en scène.

« ULTIME DÉCISION (1996)» et encore un énième film reprenant la recette Die Hard dans un avion, à tel point qu’il en est même devenu un sous-genre. Emmené par Kurt Russel, Steven Seagal éjecté au bout de 20 min
de film, et Halle Berry (Gothika),
Ultime Décision est bon actionner patriotique et jusqu’au jusqu’au-boutiste des 90s avec un bon rythme et réalisé par Stuart Baird (US Marshall).
A l’époque Seagal était annoncé comme tête d’affiche au côté de Russel mais fut visiblement écarté par la
production à cause de son attitude de megalo violent sur le tournage. L’acteur John Leguizamo (Roméo + Juliette) raconte même
s’être retrouvé plaqué contre le mur après avoir agacé le saumon agile!
La disparition de Seagal au premier tiers du film est au final une idée absolument géniale qui va conditionner la tension du film!

« EXECUTIVE DECISION (1996) »is another film using the Die Hard recipe but on a plane, and it creates even a sub-genre. Led by Kurt Russell, Steven Seagal ejected after 20 minutes film, and Halle Berry (Gothika). A good patriotic actioner and uninhibited die-hard from the 90s with a good rhythm and directed by Stuart Baird (US Marshall). At the time Seagal was announced as headlining alongside Russell but was visibly sidelined by the production because of his violent megalomaniac attitude on set. Actor John Leguizamo (Roméo + Juliette) even says found himself pinned against the wall after annoying the agile salmon! The disappearance of Seagal in the first part of the film is ultimately an absolutely brilliant idea which will conduct the tension of the film!

Synopsis: Un groupe de terroristes prend en otage les passagers de l’Air Force One, l’avion du président des Etats Unis, James Marshall. ce dernier, caché dans les soutes, a feint une évasion par la capsule de sauvetage. Tandis que s’engagent des négociations tendues, lui seul peut encore agir pour sauver les siens et assurer la sécurité de son pays...

Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones) Gary Oldman (Dracula) Glenn Close (Liaison Fatale) tout ce beau monde est à l’affiche de « AIR FORCE ONE (1997) » une superproduction de Wolfgang Pettersen (L’histoire sans fin) qui met le paquet en matière d’action so 90s (flingues, explosion, saut d’avion en avion), avec un président ricain qui joue les inspecteur McClane de Die Hard en faisant cache-cache dans l’avion. Le patriotisme américain est à son paroxysme et la musique du film fut même utilisée sur certains meeting de Trump en 2016…

En tout cas c’est toujours un plaisir de voir Harrison Ford jouer les badass !

American patriotism is at its peak, the music from the film was even used at certain Trump meetings in 2016...
Btw it’s always a pleasure to see Harrison Ford playing badass guy!

« La croisière fait mumuse »

Synopsis: Sur un luxueux bateau de croisière, des terroristes essaient de voler le plutonium contenu dans le coffre du navire. Ils commencent par assassiner le commandant, mais Dragon le chef de la sécurité les surprend et se retrouve poursuivi dans tout le bateau par les terroristes.

Réalisé en 1995 par un certain Yuen Woo Ping « Red Wolf » n’est pas sans rappeler City Hunter avec Jackie Chan sortie 2 ans plutôt mais le fun en moins. Toutefois les combats sont efficaces et le film pas avare en baston ! Feat. Colin Shou (Matrix Reload) et Kenny Ho (Project A)

« Papy à l’hôtel »
Synopsis: Un sénateur venu faire l’inauguration d’un hôtel accompagné par sa femme et sa fille est pris en otage par un tueur. Le vieux Burt Reynolds un ex flic s’infiltre dans le bâtiment pour jouer les McClane…

Burt Reynolds (Délivrance) star du film de tonton des années 70 est en 1999 un papy plus franchement motivé et joue pour la 3e fois ce flic désabusé dont personne ne se souvient la trilogie des « HARD TIMES ». « MENACE EXPLOSIVE » ce 3eme volet est vraiment un film mou du cul digne des pires téléfilms du début des 80s. Papy Burt et le reste du cast semblent clairement se faire chier…

Burt Reynolds (Deliverance) star of the uncle film from the 70s is in 1999 a more frankly motivated grandpa and plays for the 3rd time this disillusioned cop that no one remembers in the “HARD TIMES” trilogy. “HOSTAGE HOTEL” this 3rd part is really a weirdo movies like early 80s soap. Grandpa Burt and the rest of the cast clearly seem to be pi**ed off...

Synopsis: Excédé par l’injustice de son gouvernement, le Général Hummel se rend maître de l’île d’Alcatraz et menace de lancer un gaz mortel sur San Francisco. Deux hommes sont chargés de le contrer : un expert en armes chimiques, Stanley Goodspeed, et John Patrick Mason, l’unique prisonnier à s’être évadé d’Alcatraz. Ils se rendent ensemble sur l’île afin de stopper les projets destructeurs du Général.

Petite pépite du cinéma d’action « THÉ ROCK (1995) » de Michael Bay par encore affublé de ses gimmick cinématographiques met en scène un huit clos d’action impeccable servit par un casting 4 étoiles : Sean Connery (James Bond), Nicolas Cage (Volte Face) Ed Harris (Abyss) et Michael Biehn (The Terminator)

Note : Quentin Tarantino interviendra durant les nombreuses phases de réécriture du film, et le rôle de Nicolas Cage fut au départ proposé à Arnold Schwarzenegger qui refusa trouvant le scénario nul.

“Alcatraz Harder ”

They go to the island together to stop the General’s destructive plans.

One of the best of action film “THE ROCK (1995)” by Michael Bay, who at that time not in his overproduced cinematic things , features an impeccable action behind closed doors served by a 4-star cast: Sean Connery (James Bond), Nicolas Cage (Volte Face) Ed Harris (Abyss) and Michael Biehn (The Terminator)
Note: Quentin Tarantino will intervene during the numerous phases of rewriting the film, and the role of Nicolas Cage was initially offered to Arnold Schwarzenegger who decline and found the script rubbish.

« Y a t il un cuistot pour sauver le bateau ? »

Synopsis: Un navire de guerre américain est pris d’assaut par un groupe de terroristes. Le cuistot ancien soldat d’élite va tenter de le délivrer à lui tout seul.

On ne présente plus Casey Rybak ce cuistot qui a éclaté à lui seul une 100aine de terroristes. Film Popcorn par excellence, petit frère de Die Hard, l’excellence en moins, n’est pas McTiernan qui peut, même si Andrew Davis (Le Fugitif) fait un super job. Ce « PIÈGE EN HAUTE MER (1992) » révèle Steven Seagal dans la cours des grands actionners des 90s, alors au top de sa forme, il fait ce qu’il sait faire de mieux : casser des bras, des nuques, des dents et des co****es.
Sa prestation (aussi expressive qu’une endive) est éclipsée par l’incroyable talent de Tommy Lee Jones (Men in Black) en méchant complètement barge accompagné par un Gary Busey (L’arme Fatale) qui n’aurait jamais dû cracher dans la soupe de Casey!

Note: C’est Jean-Claude Van Damme qui aurait dû jouer le rôle principale mais ce dernier était retenu sur Universal Soldier.

“The Naked Cook »

Plot: An American warship is stormed by a group of terrorists. The cook, a former elite soldier, will try to rescue him alone. We no longer present Casey Rybak, this chef who single-handedly destroyed around 100 terrorists. Popcorn film par excellence, little brother of Die Hard, minus the excellence, McTiernan is not who he wants, even if Andrew Davis (The Fugitive) does a great job. This “UNDER THE SIEGE (1992)” reveals Steven Seagal in the world of great actioners of the 90s, then at the top of his form, he does what he does best: breaking arms, necks, teeth and balls. His performance (as expressive as an curly lettuce) is eclipsed by the incredible talent of Tommy Lee Jones (Men in Black) as a completely crazy villain accompanied by a Gary Busey (Lethal Weapon) who should never have spit in the Casey’s soup!
Note: Jean-Claude Van Damme should have played the main role but the latter was retained on Universal Soldier’s set.

« Piège dans la supérette »

Synopsis: Sept condamnés à morts s’évadent de leur prison et prennent tout un centre commercial en otage. Rudy Ray, un ancien flic qui à également été mercenaire mais à présent à la retraite apprend que son jeune frère fait partie des hors-la-loi.

À la fin des années 90 la carrière de Mickey Rourke bat de l’aile suite à ses ingérences sur les plateaux de tournage et au coté auto destructeur de l’acteur. C’est dans ce contexte que sort ce « POINT BLANK (1998) » un DTV reprenant le concept du film Die Hard mais dans un supermarché.
Rourke qui joue les mercenaires karatéka avec sa tête de pain sucé doit en tout et pour tout sortir 5 phrases pendant le film, ce contentant le reste du temps de faire des pirouettes, des pièges improbables, des gunfights et des high kicks avec notamment cette scène de combat délirante contre Danny Trejo (La Machète) qui cabotine un
max !
Un film assez fun et rempli de clichés badass à découvrir !

“Die Mall”
Plot: Seven condemned prisoners escape from their prison and take an entire shopping center hostage. Rudy Ray, a former cop who was also a mercenary but is now retired, learns that his younger brother is one of the outlaws.
At the end of the 90s, Mickey Rourke’s career faltered following interference on film sets and the actor’s self-destructive side. It is in this context that this “POINT BLANK (1998)” is released, a DTV using the concept of the film Die Hard but in a supermarket. Rourke, who plays the mercenary karateka, has to come out with a total of 5 lines during the film and the rest of the time to do acrobaties , improbable traps gunfights and high kicks, notably with this funny fight scene against Danny Trejo (La Machat)! A pretty fun film full of badass clichés to discover right now!

« Des ninjas et Hulk Hogan sont dans un parc »

Synopsis:
Une vieille radasse accompagné de Ninjas et d’un reggae man prennent en otage un
Parc d’attraction. Mais Hulk Hogan et les 3 ninjas kids sont sur place pour faire des « ayahh » !

4eme opus de la saga des Ninjas Kids, « LES 3 NINJAS SE DÉCHAÎNENT (1998) »
est le film de trop, une bouffonnerie sans nom où le seul lien avec le premier film est le papy Joey Wong (Jack Burton dans les griffes du Mandarin).
Tout est mauvais, à commencer par la gu**le des 3 kids, l’humour de bas étages, la moumoute de Hulk Hogan, les combats, les badguys complètement débiles et cette veille sorcière dégueulasse en guise de Hans Gruber.
Et la prise d’otage dans tout ça ?
Et bien attention les méchants sont très dangereux ils peuvent arrêter des manèges depuis une salle de contrôle digne des meilleurs films de SF et boom ! dans ta gu**le! D’ailleurs le public du parc d’attraction ne semble pas vraiment au courant qu’une prise d’otage est en cours… c’est con.

(1998)” is a dumb movie where the only link with the first film is grandpa Joey Wong (Big trouble in little china). Everything is bad, starting with the face of the 3 kids, the comedy, the wig of Hulk Hogan, the fights, the completely stupid badguys and this disgusting old witch. Well be careful the bad guys are very dangerous they can stop rides from a control room worthy of the best sci-fi films! Besides, the public at the amusement park doesn’t seem to be aware that a hostage situation is in progress... it’s stupid.

Synopsis: Le détective Nicky Larson enquête sur la disparition de la fille d’un grand magnat de la presse. Ses investigations l’emmènent sur un navire pris en otage.

Cette première adaptation live du manga culte « Nicky Larson (1993) » met en scène un Jackie Chan en très grande forme au beau milieu d’un joyeux bo**el scenaristique signé Wong Jing (God of Gamblers) ou la comédie burlesque côtoie le wtf dans le contexte du film de prise d’otage ou notre ami Jackie devra affronter tour à tour un tas de supers vilains dont Gary Daniels (Ken Le Survivant) et Richard Norton (China O’brien). On retiendra de chouettes combats dont une parodie du jeu Street Fighters bien fendard!
Note: Wong Jing et Jackie Chan se seraient d’ailleurs brouillés pendant le tournage du film et le réalisateur se vengera quelques années plus t**d dans son film « Meltdown : Terreur à Hong-kong (1995)» avec Jet Li et Jacky Cheung et mettant en scène un acteur de film d’action et sa doublure pris en otage dans un immeuble….

Plot: Detective Ryo Saeba investigates the disappearance of the daughter of a major media mogul. His investigations take him to a hostage ship.
This first live adaptation of the cult manga “City Hunter (1993)” features a Jackie Chan in great shape under the direction of Wong Jing (God of Gamblers) where burlesque comedy joins WTF in the hostage-taking film with our friend Jackie will have to face a bunch of bad guys including Gary Daniels (Fist of the North Star) and Richard Norton (China O’brien). We will remember some great fights including a parody of the Street Fighters game!
Note: Wong Jing and Jackie Chan reportedly had a falling out during the filming of the film and the director took revenge a few years later in his film “High Risk (1995)” with Jet Li and Jacky Cheung and featuring an action film actor and his stunt double taken hostage in a building…. Enjoy
