Igbo is NOT a “tribe”. As far back at the 9th century, some Igbo clan(s) were already creating intricate bronze works that is now considered to be the oldest bronze artefact in Nigeria. Centuries before the emergence of other bronze centres such as Bini and Ife (go and do your research before coming to argue with me or you’ll be demolished with facts).

Apart from these sophisticated bronze works, the Igbo’s also had a cosmology, a leadership system, a spiritual system, a trading system, land laws and so on.

The correct term is ETHNICITY OR ETHNIC NATIONALITY.

The Yoruba and Hausa and others are also not tribes, they too, had great achievements in the past.

Tribes are hunter gatherers who are small in number and survive in the forests by hunting and gathering. They don’t create bronze works, they don’t engage in Agriculture and so on. Oyibo called us tribe to belittle us and for some reason some still use such colonial terms. How can a group that has Eze, Emir or Oba be considered mere tribes? If we are tribes then the English and their king are also tribes!

You cannot build a relationship with someone who ignores you, your phone calls, or your texts.

And you cannot build a relationship with someone who won’t talk about the future with you, or make plans with you.

And you certainly cannot build a relationship with someone who isn’t willing to communicate and have the necessary conversations.

But it is not your job to try to convince someone to be different.

And it’s not your job to convince someone of your value, and of your worth.

Your only job is to be a protector of your heart, and of your boundaries.

And you need to challenge yourself to be that protector.

And the first step in loving yourself is the boundary of goodbye.

And you will be fine!

There will be someone else, and yes.. you can handle the loneliness of going back out there again.

Anything is better than betraying yourself to be in something that is going nowhere.
