Detroit, MI 48202, Somewhere in Detroit (S.I.D) was started in 1985 by Mad Mike Bank's sister Bridgette Banks. "Somewhere in Detroit" was named that because it was a mobile store used to sell rare Detroit muscle car parts, rare synths, rare records and other things at various mid-west swap meets, flea markets and worldwide via mailorder. Bridgette efficiently put order and success to her brother's
street-oriented style business. Bridgette's friendly caring customer service and her expertise in international shipping and customs clearance was key to the success of what would become Submerge. She soon was running the mail-order/walk-in store division of that now infamous Detroit vinyl record distribution outlet "Submerge" funded solely by Mike. Later after 15 solid years of international success, a growing staff and a crucial move to Detroit's North-End, Mike was forced to downsize the Submerge Operation ironically due to technologies that reduced a dj's need for vinyl, notably the MP3 digital music file and the various computer based dj systems used to play them. With typical Detroit assembly line precision the Submerge staff was trimmed down to its two strongest assets................Mike and Bridgette. Welcome to "Somewhere in Detroit" a place where records are a matter of sonic survival. A place where you can proudly stand by every record you ever bought from us. A place where people simply sign a wall and a connection is made in a spiritual circuit that powers a music that drives the future. We hope one day you can make the "Journey" and "Find yourself in the Sound" somewhere in Detroit.
