I love it when people go the extra mile! 🤩

Thank you Angie Roullier! I love my seed-saver binder and the seeds you sent with it. The note will be stored with it to remind me of you and your thoughtfulness. There was a day when people did these things but it is rare now. I love it. I love the gift and I love you. Hopefully, we will meet in person at an event someday and have an elevated sesh talking about our fav topic. 🙏🏽✌🏽💚🌿

Happy Sunday to those who will be attending church services today! 🙏🏽😇

Here's something to think about today 🤔💭

As you sit there and look around the congregation, I'd like you to take a moment to wonder "Who chose to consume a compound that affects the human body to help them make it through the day a little more comfortably?"

Maybe someone there took an aspirin. Why? Did they have a headache? Did their doctor recommend it for their heart health? 🩺

Has anyone had surgery lately? Did they take their doctor-prescribed opioids before church so they could tolerate the pain and enjoy the fellowship and message? 💊

How about the coffee drinkers? Who had a cup of Joe before they headed out the door because they felt like they needed the energy boost after working all week and then mowing the lawn all day yesterday? ☕

Do you feel any type of condemnation towards these people? Probably not. Well, maybe if you're Mormon or Christian Scientist. 🤷🏽‍♀️

But, what if someone in your church consumed cannabis this morning before services? How do you feel about that person? The same? Or does that one shock you? 😲

Do you feel any type of condemnation towards the cannabis consumer? I'm guessing that many do. But, you may be undecided because, in your mind, it depends.

Did they discreetly take a gummy? That would be okay, right?

What if they took a few puffs from a joint or a v**e pen? What if it was a big 'ol b**g rip or a dab? How do you feel about it now?

Yes, it gets complicated but I think it's high time we talked about cannabis consumption among Christians! ⛪🌿

Life is hard enough! It is FULL of ups and downs, aches and pains, drama and trauma. We're all just looking for ways to have a decent day with as little of all that as possible.

I've been thinking about this subject for a few years now. I started my medical cannabis journey as a Christian who was diagnosed with cancer and glaucoma in the same year. Cannabis was not a part of my life. It had been decades. I found out about "w**d" being good for endometriosis through a neighbor. That launched me into a deep dive into cannabis education with a focus on medical applications. Almost five years later, I am now a medical cannabis consultant & patient advocate. Still a Christian. Still a cannabis consumer. And N.E.D. 5 years! PTL 🙌🏽

I'm coming from a very personal place and I'd like your help in erasing the stigma and condemnation for Christians who consume cannabis. Please have some compassion! 🙏🏽

😌 "Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ...let each one examine his own work...each one shall bear his own load" (Galatians 6:2 NKJV)

💞 "Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins" (I Peter 4:8 NIV)

In 1976, Robert C. Randall, a glaucoma patient, became the first person to gain legal access to Federal supplies of cannabis (ma*****na) for medical use.

Robert received a monthly tin (shown in pics) with 300 machine-rolled cannabis ci******es (ma*****na joints) (about 9 oz) grown by the United States Government on a farm at the University of Mississippi.

As a glaucoma patient, and now a medical cannabis consultant, this medical cannabis memorabilia is very special to me and I'm honored to support the movement.

Alice O'Leary Randall, his widow, and co-founder of the medical cannabis movement, is offering these limited edition medical ma*****na cigarette tins at a HUGE discount during, the month of April, as a month-long celebration of the 4/20 holiday. You can read their stories and make a purchase at https://www.aliceolearyrandall.com/

Cannabis is now a part of millions of people's lives whether they personally consume it or not and Roullier’s book is a great guide for all who seek to know more about this globally trending topic. In “Pot for the People”, Roullier instantly befriends the reader by being blunt about the plant, the people, and the policies, bold in addressing important cannabis industry issues, brave at calling out bad actors and bad policies, and brilliant as she bestows a bounty of cannabis knowledge to her beloved readers while keeping it light-hearted with added humor here and there.

As a self-described potty mouth, Roullier does a nice job of keeping her curse words to a minimum so this book is safe enough to be used in a local library maybe even a church library. Lord knows all churches need to face this trending issue just as much as anyone else does.

There are no sexual references at all and believe me, there are plenty within the cannabis industry so once again Roullier keeps it professional.

Not that you would expect it, but well it is about pot, people, and politics and we all know that can lead to some drama but there is no blood, gore, or violence mentioned in this book and Roullier herself gives cannabis the credit for the lack of it in her own life.

As a certified medical cannabis consultant, as well as a patient consumer, I gladly give this book four stars and recommend it to all my friends and family who are looking for cannabis consumer advice and information before they head out to the local dispensary to purchase products. If you read this book, you're likely to save money on your first visit and more.

I like this book so much that I ordered two copies. One for me and one to share without worrying about ever getting it back. I'm sure I'll be using it as a reference often. It's just on my level of understanding. It is very informative and occasionally scientific but not so much that my eyes glaze over. It is written in a very nice, personal, friendly, helpful, and heartfelt way that makes me feel like I've got my own personal cannabis coach and guide available 24/7/365.

This book would be a great addition to any dispensary, doctor's office, or local library. I encourage you to order your copy today. Maybe even two!

I just wanted to share a pic of all of the resources you get from Trichome Institute to help you learn to be an "interpener." You can buy each one separately but I recommend buying the course plus resources bundle. I don't have any plans to be a professional interpener but I am a medical cannabis patient as well as a medical cannabis consultant. I figured out the hard way that strain names don't mean much. Although I appreciate COAs, they really don't tell me everything I want to know. Not the ones I get here locally. So, I am using this course to train my eyes, nose, and memory in what to expect from any cannabis flower sample. It's super interesting and worked my first time trying it out. I'm one of those people that are very sensitive to odors. Some can instantly make me nauseous, give me a headache, and/or make my stomach hurt. This has been an issue all my life. It sucks. But, I now know how to evaluate cannabis flower based on science not cute (or not so cute) strain names. No, I'm not an expert interpener, but I'm better today than I was yesterday, and that's my goal, to always learn more and stay up-to-date with industry knowledge.

BTW they mention the trigeminal nerve. I have some neurological issues with mine. I was worried that this interpener technique may not work for me. It did. I'm sure it will with you, as well. Enjoy! LMK if you take the course. I'd love to hear what you think about it.

I am happy to share that I have completed Trichome Institute's Cooking with Cannabis course. Although I did not take this course to become a cannabis chef, I found it very interesting, relevant to what I am studying, and fun as well. I do have some culinary arts and nutrition education from East Tennessee State University and Austin Peay State University so I probably will mess around in the kitchen to see what I can put into practice for personal use with friends and family someday. I give this course a 🌿 🌿 🌿 🌿 🌿 rating.

While using cannabis for medical reasons, I experienced the phenomenon of 'elevated thought processes." It gave me the ability to not only finally put two words together (brain fog is real and I hate it) but to elegantly wax on about the amazing benefits of the cannabis plant (including the h**p varieties) and my amazement and love for it. Sebastian Marincolo's book proposes, for the first time, that our endocannabinoid system may be involved in supporting functions of the highest cognitive abilities. Marincolo hopes to inspire scientists from various fields to investigate this phenomenon to better understand the role of the ECS and human cognition and emotion. I believe he will, indeed, inspire many, to take a closer look. I look forward to following his career and works and those that he inspires within the medical cannabis community and industry.

📢📗 Announcing a new medical cannabis book called "Seeing through the Smoke: A Cannabis Specialist Untangles the Truth about Ma*****na" by Dr. Peter Grinspoon available on Amazon.com.

Book Summary: Depending on which doctor you speak with, or which websites you read, cannabis could be an appealing, low-risk medicine – even an aid to wellness – or an insidiously addictive drug rotting the brains of our youth. This dissonance confuses young people, distressed patients, and paralyzes politicians, all while inviting dubious sources of information and resulting in uninformed choices, enhanced polarization, and a fragmented national policy.

Seeing Through the Smoke is an unflinching examination at the grossly misunderstood drug that uses data-driven medical science and a critical historical perspective to reveal the truth behind cannabis. In this balanced and measured investigation, Cannabis specialist and Instructor in Medicine at Harvard Medical School Dr. Peter Grinspoon untangles the reality behind cannabis, revealing how we ended up with radically divergent understandings of the drug and pointing a way toward a middle ground that we can all share.

Moving through an illuminating tour of the social history and the medical science behind cannabis, Grinspoon unpacks the layers of disinformation left by a sordid history of government propaganda, racial suppression, and indifference from the medical community to answer questions like:

🟢 Is cannabis addictive?
🟢 What are its best-established medical uses?
🟢 Can cannabis help cure cancer?
🟢 How does cannabis affect memory?
🟢 How dangerous is cannabis for teens?
🟢 Is cannabis a safer treatment for ADHD and PTSD?
🟢 What exactly is CBD and how is it different from ma*****na?
🟢 What are the most concerning side effects?

By focusing on the most critical purported harms—driving, pregnancy, addictiveness, memory—and by focusing on the most commonly cited medical benefits—relieving chronic pain, sleep, anxiety, PTSD, autism, and cancer—Seeing Through the Smoke will help patients, parents, doctors, health experts, regulators, and politicians move beyond biased perceptions and arrive at a shared reality towards cannabis.

I would never feel comfortable talking to my healthcare provider about "Cheetah P**s." 😳🫢

Although I believe that the legacy of breeders should be written down, preserved, and honored, I do look forward to some name changes for cannabis, at least in the medical sector of the industry.

Good News!! I recently read about a new classification system called the Vigil Index of Cannabis Chemovars (VICC). It is a new cannabis indexing system that uses a 4-character chemovar code to "broadly describe the primary and secondary terpenes as well as THC and CBD. The system also allows for up to 3 superscript plus signs for THC and CBD to denote the level of each one on a scale of 1-8 for THC and 0-8 for CBD."

If this new system of indexing and naming cannabis chemovars is adopted, it would go a long way in helping medical cannabis consumers, along with their HCPs, choose the right chemovar for consistent results (effects) for their particular symptom(s) or disease state(s).

Cannabis is an agricultural product just like apples. 🌿🧑🏽‍🌾 There are several varieties of the same plant. Different varieties of apples are used for different desired outcomes, same for cannabis varieties. If you want to bake an apple pie or cobbler, use a Granny Smith. Using a Gala will leave you with a watery, mushy mess. If you're just looking for a quick snack, the apple variety you chose will depend on if you prefer a tart apple, a sweet apple, or a blend of the two. It's the same for cannabis. Your choice of cannabis will depend on your desired effect. That's the first thing you need to consider. Be sure you know what that is and then do yourself a favor and learn about the chemical compounds in cannabis and what their effects are. There's more to cannabis than just getting high AF. Although, there is a time and place for that as well, IMHO, such as at end of life and/or throughout a grieving period. If you're overwhelmed, there is a growing group of very knowledgeable cannabis consultants that would be more than happy to help you.

If YOU are a cannabis consultant, please feel free to leave your name and contact info in the comments below.

There are at least a dozen dispensaries near me. 🌿🛒 I haven't hit them all but I've visited a few and I am overwhelmed by the whole experience of shopping for, and finding, the right cannabis product for me. 😒

If the number of products and not knowing what is what (delta 8, HHC) and being on a very limited budget isn't frustrating enough, then there's the fact that the font size on the labels is so small that someone like me can't even read them. 🔍🔬

So anyway, for now, the best I can do is ask to see a Certificate of Analysis and hope that it also has the terpenes listed. The COA that I got yesterday does not list terpenes. I was looking for something with some myrcene and caryophyllene. So I had to go off of the strain name "Lemon Pepper" and just guess that it has some of that peppery caryophyllene.

Cannabis is a dynamic plant that contains over 500 chemical compounds. They all play a role in delivering the desired affect. Both of those terpenes help with pain, inflammation, muscle spasms, anxiety and sleep. All of which I have and more. 🥴

I look forward to the day when there is some standardization and consistency. Until then, I'm going to continue experimenting, learning, and looking for what works for me. I feel bad for those who are too sick or disabled to get out there and do it on their own. I'd love to see every dispensary have an in-house consultant (independent and unaffiliated with no conflict of interests) to help those people. People like me. More people could benefit if they had someone to help them. IMHO. 💁🏽🗣️

Yesterday was my best dispensary visit so far because the budtender spent a lot of time with me and answered a lot of my questions. We had fun chatting about cannabis and the products. She was more than happy to print off the COA and a few other fact sheets for me. She made me want to make that dispo my #1 place to shop, especially if she's on duty. 🤩

11/01/2023

Do strain names matter? Yes and no. Yes, because they are still being used in retail dispensaries and that's how most people refer to them. No, because, eventually, the industry hopes to get to a point where cannabis types can be standardized as much as possible, especially for Medical Cannabis. No one wants to have their doctor recommend Train Wreak, Cat P**s, Purple Monkey Balls or Alaskan Thunderf**k for their medicine. Besides, cannabis doesn't even meet the scientific definition of a strain. I'm sure by now, after 2 years of COVID, we all know that strains are for bacteria and viruses. In my opinion though, it's important to honor the original breeders by keeping up with the strain names, if only for posterity, nostalgia, and/or a good, cannabis-enhanced giggle. Until chemovars are re-named and/or standardized, it's best to check the Certificate of Analysis (COA). Look for a QR code on the product, scan it, and check out the chemical profile to see if it's really the one you're looking for. If you don't see a QR code with a COA, ask the budtender to print one off for you. Karla Bur

Because cannabis is one of the first and oldest crops cultivated by humans, some believe it may very well have been what "sparked" human civilization's development. Although we may never know for sure, there has been some very interesting archeological evidence uncovered that at least supports the fact that cannabis was, definitely, used by humans very early on, as in Neolithic times, which is the last period of the Stoned Age, I mean Stone Age, sorry. Archeologists have found h**p fiber and dried cannabis flower as well as equipment that was used for burning the cannabis, probably for a ritual. 🧑🏼‍🌾🌱😁💨 **p Karla Bur
