Why I Cosplay: Cosplay provides me with a vacation from the pressures and demands of the real world. I love transforming myself into a favorite character and challenging myself to be as canon as possible.

Why I Cosplay: I LOVE being a part of the cosplay community, meeting other cosplayers, dressing up in a fancy costume, and playing hero for a day with others who share my fandoms. I grew up at a time where I’d get made fun of if I wore a Star Wars T-shirt in public, and now I can proudly wear my nerd heart on my sleeve.

Cosplans: Hopefully more Captain America cosplays in the future with other suits Steve Rogers wore in the MCU. Maybe a Dr. Strange cosplay down the road, and of course more Star Trek outfits.

Why I Cosplay: Cosplay has been my chosen creative outlet for 25 years. It all started when a friend of mine in college told me about Otakon and how people dressed up as their favorite video-game and anime characters. As someone who never really grew out of the “dress up” phase of their life, this sounded like a literal dream come true. I dove head first into teaching myself how to sew and made a Lina Inverse cosplay for my first con at Otakon 2000. I never stopped after that. It became a passion and eventually a career for a while. Just being able to take a flat 2D design and bring it into reality always makes me feel accomplished.

Cosplans: I plan to remake my Lina Inverse cosplay for my 25th cosplay anniversary. Outside of that, my next few plans are Jiaoqiu from Honkai Star Rail and a book version Sophie Hatter from Howl’s Moving Castle.
