Vegan Meat Takeaways (part 1)
I was just a college student looking for a job, but I got more than I bargained for, my name is Smokey, this is my story...
I was running low on funds, food and electricity in my second year of college, my NSFAS barely covered my needs so I had to make plans and I decided to get a job.
I kept on searching online for notices and offers but they were either too far to travel or I just didn't qualify for them, after a while of scrolling through LinkedIn and Facebook I decided to check out Google.
The first results were good, if I had a PhD in quantum mechanics and sh*t, which I don't, so I went to the next page and there it was ,an ad for a cleaner in a deli, the work is easy and the money's good too, R2100/week is worth it.
so I contacted the place and set up a meeting with the manager tomorrow and ate some dinner and I went to sleep, the next morning I flew over to the establishment as fast as possible, I got there and I instantly got the chills looking at the place.
It was as if the building was exuding a decaying rotten aura, the building was falling apart everywhere except for the windows, walls and doors..
With mold in places you wouldn't usually see, like in the doorstep and on the windows... but for 2.1 a week it wasn't a problem to my broke-as*
I went inside and was met by the strong smell of BBQ meat with a hint of spices, my mouth started watering, the interior was cozy and the colours and temperature was warm.
I saw small group of 5 workers in the back and I went to ask for the manager, they said I should go to the back there's a door that leads to the manager's room. I knocked on his door and he responded, "Come in Peter"...
I went inside, and shook his hand and sat down.he introduced me to the business and told me the basics , he was pretty strict about the handling of the vegan menu, only James handles the preparation of the vegan meals to avoid any confusion. Let me introduce you to the team...
to be continued...
