Hailing from Osaka, Tokyo-based DJ and producer, DubGuy released his debut EP “About Time (High time)” on TREKKIE TRAX.
The title track, “About Time” consists of different types of beats of Techno and Electro as if new ideas and thoughts are born from past experiences, just like human thought patterns.
“Strain Simulation” was produced with DubGuy’s friend in Osaka, Sireve. The song is a mixture of the roots of both DubGuy, who has always loved listening to Russian Electro, and Sireve, who is heavily influenced by game music.
“High time” has more rave-y nuance than “About Time” and is an ambitious piece with development in each part, including the use of modular synthesizers and a lot of effects.

Seimei - Do This Sh*t
[Release]
Inspired by Seimei / Trekkie Trax's own life in the greater Tokyo metropolitan area, the song was created with the theme of the audience dancing in the nightclubs where he works in Tokyo.
The song is a trippy and danceable 4x4 beat track influenced by ghetto tech and Detroit techno, and uses the names of downtown areas in “TOKYO” where Seimei and the artists around him live and work, such as Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Shimokita, with his voice processed.
This theme had existed in Seimei's mind for some time, but he had been unable to create a song that matched it. However, after completing the base of this song, he used his own voice recorded with his iPhone, and the song was completed immediately.
The lyrics, “This is the sound of the East,” not only refers to the sound of Tokyo and the Tokyo metropolitan area, but also to the perspective of “TOKYO,” the eastern part of Asia as seen from the West, and expresses his respect for his home ground as a DJ from multiple perspectives.
The remixes are by up-and-coming Japanese artists “Oyubi,” “NirBorna,” and “DubGuy,” who have also released on TREKKIE TRAX and whose music are played not only in Seimei's DJ sets but also by DJs around the world. The album includes remix by New York-based techno artist WTCHCRFT, who is also a friend of Seimei.

Samuel Smoky Purple - Raven Nocturne
[Release]
Chiba, Japan based producer Samuel Smoky Purple has released new EP.
This is an EP with the theme of 'diving', with a structure in which the depth increases as the music progresses, just like progressing through the stages of a game, and a lonely and serious development awaits, 'from above ground to below ground, from light to dark, from surface to centre'. The music expresses "a path that is impossible to turn back from, yet one must go on".
The KORG/wavestate was the most frequently used hardware in this EP, as in the pad sound at the beginning of "ZONE1 The Cortex", where the complex textures created by the wavestate are used to give depth and listening pleasure to a relatively simple composition.
In terms of sound, Samuel Smoky Purple's signature nostalgic and melancholic synth phrases are brought to the forefront, while the hard kick and tight low end are focused on, aiming to express the appeal of club music as well. Influenced by breaks, techno, UK garage, etc., the production was done with a conscious effort to incorporate a variety of elements.
The EP includes remixes by a co-founder of TREKKIE TRAX, 'Seimei', and 'SYCLES', a project by BROKEN HAZE and Hoshi Yuta, and up-and-coming producers 'NirBorna' and 'Hizuo'.
The artwork is by 'ETALON' and is a collage of analogue techniques using drawing paper and watercolours and digital techniques using software.
