I absolutely 💯 love taking my cats to see Ashlynn Marie at Purr-fection Salon ❤️ She is so calm and gentle and my cats love her!

More importantly, they are safe in her care and mom gets an hour "toddler" cat FREE. Both cats actually get right into their carry kennels, there is no running away and hiding when I tell them we are going to see Ashlyn ❤️

“I don’t know how you do it” is the reaction you most commonly hear when someone finds out you’re an ER nurse.

Some days, I don’t know how we do it either.

We handle birth to death. Stable to Sick. Cut patients to Crashing patients.

We have been referred to as the “jack of all trades, master of none.”

We are the best at slapping a smile on our face, making a joke inappropriately and jumping into the chaos that rolls up to our front drive. ER nurses are full of grit, tireless resilience and heavy sarcasm. Without those things, we wouldn’t make it through a shift.

Because while I’m bandaging your cut from a can opener, you haven’t the slightest idea that I just walked out of a room where I comforted people whose family member just coded. The patient I did CPR on. Barely a minute to process the event before moving on to the next task to be done.

Yes, we are a jack of all trades, but I wouldn’t ever describe us as “masters of none.”
We are masters of early resuscitation.
We are the masters of switching gears.
We masters of unbelievable teamwork.

So you are right, some days, I don’t know how we do it.

But most days, I know it’s because the people I get to work side by side with to handle the chaos.
