I keep hearing that Orthodox Church have the same teachings and traditions of the apostles, that they remained faithful to those teachings and traditions since the 1st century, that the Roman Catholics that have completely abandoned the original church and furthermore the Protestants have abandoned a church that has abandoned the original church.
The Orthodox Church really has a high opinion of themselves but can they back their claim, the apostle John taught this in 1 John 5:13: “These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.” Now ask an orthodox Christian if they know that they are saved, their answer is “no one can know if their saved”
Orthodox Christians pray to small pictures and big pictures, they see them as portals to a spiritual world, there zero biblical references to this religious practice, the best they can do is go to is to go 2 Thessalonians 2:15 “stand firm and hold to the traditions which you were taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter” that word of mouth line is a door way to sneak in any strange practices and doctrines into the church and it has, and it will continue to bring in more, the Eucharist (a bloodless sacrifice that insults Christ once and for all sacrifice) but the apostle Paul said in Romans 6:10 "For the death He died, He died to sin, once for all; but the life He lives, He lives to God". This verse highlights that Christ's death was a definitive act of atonement for sin, not a repetitive sacrifice. Oh and don’t get me started on “Toll houses” which are essentially about 12 checkpoints located in the border of heaven each checkpoint or toll house has an angel and a demon station there, the demon will make a case for you to be sent to hell and the angel will be your defense, the apostles never taught that.
The more you study Orthodox Church and compared their teachings with the Bible, the more distant the two are seem.
