Hey there! I was googling the phrase "native tongue" and the site directed me to song lyrics and book titles; similar searches include mother tongue

or native language. I think when people speak their "native tongue," they are expressing and performing their identities; whether it is race/ethnicity or if you identify as LBGTQ, straight female from Brooklyn, teenager with a Boston accent, or an internet enthusiast who speak in binary codes. I'm starting this film project in hope to explore intersectionality of identities through breaking down the nuance of people's native tongue and attempting to clearly define the term in the process. Oh, and I also just really enjoy talking to people and learning other languages.
