Being a program associate for Ecochampions was a good experience for me and a humbling one too.

This would be first time of teaching project management to 100 climate change fellows from different countries in Africa.

Today, I listened to the fellows share their experience from the project they were able to execute and I was super excited because of how well they executed their projects.

Ecochampions is doing a great job in teaching people about climate change and also equipping them with the right knowledge to take up actions.

I can't wait to share more of my journey from this particulatar experience as a Program associate. Also to share some tips with you when executing your project.

I read a story recently that I can relate to and I want to share it with you. A farmer wanted to cut down a tree and said he was going to call his son to cut down the tree for him.

The birds that were there, became scared they had built up their nest there. They informed their leader later in the evening who wasn't around when the farmer said it.

Their leader told them not to be scared that the farmer won't cut it down. The farmer truly didn't cut it down.

The following week, the farmer came and said he was going to cut the tree down. He said he was going to call labourers. The birds became scared again, they informed their leader in the evening. Their leader told them that He won't cut it down. Truly He didn't cut it down.

The following week the farmer came again and said he would cut the tree down. He said he was going to cut it down by himself. When the leader of the birds came in the evening, he was told what the farmer said.

He immediately told them that they would leave that place by tomorrow because the farmer would cut down the place tomorrow as he said he would. The farmer kept to his words, he cut it down the next day.

Notice that the third time, the farmed wasn't dependent on anyone again. Every time you don't take control over your growth, you'll keep being where you are. The thing is that you'll always have an excuse to remain where you are.

The year will soon finish before you know it, are you making it count?

She was one of the biggest photographers in the country, everyone wanted to work with her which made her always busy. There was no doubt about her skills. She took photographs of mostly models.

At the peak of her career, a scandal came out that she was a bully to her assistant. It made a wave on the internet because she was a public figure. Of course, bloggers carried the news everywhere.

Even people that didn't know said negative things about her. Brands and organizations refused to work with her again. The celebrities she once worked with, disassociated themselves from her. People believed the rumour so quickly.

If you're asking about her assistant, she was the one who spread the rumour. All her hard work for years came to nothing in the twinkle of an eye. She had to travel back home with her sisters because reporters were always gathered in front of her house.

Coming back home, after a while she got peace and joy. She found peace among her family and friends she grew up with. The movie was such a beautiful one.

One major thing I learnt is that don't let the success you get become the backbone of your life. Success is like things, they come and can go.

Make sure you set your priorities in a way that when success goes, you have something to fall back to. It was funny how people who applauded her turned their back on her the moment, they found out about her scandal whether it was confirmed true or not.

Some people don't usually survive it when things go west in their career. Some people become depressed and never stand up again.

Hold your relationship with God well because He will always be there. Prioritise your family and close friends because some of them are ready to stand by you.

I consider being a Project manager a blessing because it helps me to see how things work out. There is power in planning and I can tell you for free.

Journeying through life has also helped me meet many people with different perspectives when it comes to planning. Some people don't believe in planning and their results show it. Some people believe in planning and their results show it too.

Nothing you see is not planned. Every day people plan how they want their lives to be, who they want to relate with, who they want to invest in, who they want to pay attention and the list goes on. The question is 'Do you also plan like this or do you just allow life to happen to you?'.

You're about to sleep in a few hours, whether you made today count or not it has already gone. Every day keeps passing by whether you make your best use of it or not. Why don't you decide to plan your day?

You said this year was your year so why don't you make it your year?

I want to write this to you that has left school and you feel so clueless about what to do or which skill to learn. When I left school I felt lost too, imagine how shocked I was when I found out that some people were doing amazing stuff while being students. Now is the time not to feel bad but to get to work.

Here are some things I recommend you do:

1. If you still have the childish mindset on how your parent or people own you anything, this is the best time to do away with that mindset. Nobody owns you anything. In order words, Nobody sends your daddy! It's time to make your life how you want it.

2. What do you have in your hand? There must be something you're good at whether speaking or writing. Now is the time to refine whatever you're good at. Refine it to the point where kings admire it and would want to pay for it. Just to include writing and speaking skills are a must to learn.

3. If you are clueless about which digital skill to learn, start exposing yourself to all of them. Watch YouTube videos on them and decide which one you'd like to learn. In today's world, people like working with people who already have a skill.

4. Learn the act of buying and selling. In this world, we buy and sell whether products or services.

5. Start attending conferences whether paid or free. If you have not been attending any before, start attending. Have the mindset of a learner. There is still much more you don't know. For most of us, just one conference opened us to doors of possibility.

6. I know you said after your last paper that you won't even read the signboard. Oh, well, Welcome to more reading. You will need to read a lot and beyond. Most people hide their wisdom in books and it's your job to discover them.

7. If you haven't been serving people, you will have to learn to start serving. God is the lifter of men but He uses men to lift men. Even if God sends you to someone, you'll need service and honor to preserve that relationship. When serving people, let money not cross your mind.

8. Learn to honor all men. If you still honor men based on their status or what you think they have, do away with that mindset. If you still have the mindset of being in a relationship and wanting to collect without giving or giving little, do away with it. This time around have the mindset to give and give. Honor everyone you meet on your journey. Build good relationships and networks. Help people on their journey too. Love people genuinely and let it show in whatever you do.

9. Focus! There is much noise now and many things that will take your attention away. Focus! This is the time to discover YOU. Who you are and what you want to do. Also, what kind of life you, you want to be known for.

10. Have AUDACITY! No dream you have is too small. It takes great courage and mad audacity to achieve your goals. You need to believe in your goals more than anybody. It is not going to be easy because success is hard work. Once you decide what you want to do, strive for mastery. You might change what you want to do in your journey and it's okay.

11. Priotise your relationship with God. I'm not mentioning this because it should be last. God was the beginning of my journey and He's still. AJS once said, 'Prayer might not be the key that will open that door but it can be the hand that will help to hold in opening the door'. This statement was my experience. Ask all your questions about your life to God, He knows better.
