Slip, State Highway 2, Karangahake Gorge - Waikato"

Motorists intending to use State Highway 2 through the Karangahake Gorge are urged to delay travel or expect lengthy detours.

A slip has blocked both lanes through the gorge, near Crown Hill Road.

Police were alerted about 4.30pm.

Reports that a slip has fallen throughout the Karangahake Gorge which has resulted in a full closure of SH2 in both directions.

Recently the new CEO of BVL (Tauranga City Council) informed the speedway that the Council wants to move the speedway out of Baypark by 2029. As well as shift us to a temporary pits within the next 8 months.
What an insult to the BOP Speedway Association & the Speedway community who were the pioneers that spent everything they had to established this stadium, then with the generosity of local developer Bob Clarkson the new stadium was founded and built by speedway for speedway. A venue we have shared & has been enjoyed by so many over the last 20 yrs.
Tell the COMMISSIONERS to keep their HANDS OFF our Speedway Stadium.
And let our community know the injustice that is happening to our club & many others around the City.
