On November 10th, 2023, at 7:20PM, a Hays officer advised he would be on a traffic stop in the 1100 block of Fort reference a wrong way on a one way road.

The officer remained on scene at 7:25PM but returned to patrol duties shortly after. The officer ran a custom tag out of Wisconsin 'WEENR' displayed on an Oscar Meyer Weiner truck. The officer provided dispatch a license out of Pennsylvania which returned clear and valid with no wants/warrants.

Pursuit Footage - 4/23/23 @ 11:30AM
On April 18th, 2023, at 1:00PM, a domestic disturbance was dispatched at the Super 8 motel (3730 Vine St). Dispatch was having a hard time gathering any information due to the female not being on the phone. Dispatch did note though, the female was screaming in the background that someone put hands on her, and she could be heard screaming 'OW'. Dispatch gathered a males name, and advised units that the male might be on top of her, actively hitting her. A minute later, the male was reported to have left the hotel possibly on foot. A description of the male, wearing basketball shorts, and a grey shirt was given to responding units. Within minutes, several Hays officers and deputies from the Ellis county sheriffs department were in the area searching. The male was not immediately located at any of the surrounding businesses. At 2:02PM, Hays Fire was dispatched to help unlock the victims car. At 2:39PM, officers stepped out at T-Mobile and gained information the suspect was enroute to Walmart to buy a phone number. A majority of the units surrounded Walmart, and were able to successfully locate the individual at 2:53PM. He was transported to the Ellis county Jail.
The Kansas Highway Patrol assisted in searching for the suspect in question. KHP Aircraft was also requested and utilized.
Time of call was 2 hours and 53 minutes.
The suspect in question is a registered sex offender out of Wichita. He also had a protection order against him, it is unknown if it is the victim of this incident.
