If you have never heard Dr. Manuel Scott --OMG!! Powerful doesn't begin to describe it. He was our closeout speaker at this year's Fort Bend ISD leadership summit. Dr. Scott was one of the original "Freedom Writers" as portrayed in the movie by the same name. His testimony shows two things:
1) that no kid should ever be dismissed as someone with a hopeless future
2) we should always be ready and willing to speak life into someone, especially children --and most especially children with little or no support in their lives

What a week it was!! Wrapped up the last days of the school year in Fort Bend ISD then our Communications Dept worked 3 marathon days to support our graduation ceremonies for 11 high schools. I don't think I got more than 5 hours sleep any night last week. But my energy and outlook were instantly lifted when two of my teammates brought their ADORABLE little babies by the office for visits. I'm holding one of them in this photo. Doesn't he look just like his mama who's standing next to me? And he smelled SO sweet. Talk about a stress reliever and instant joy-bringer!! My advice--for those times when the work pace ramps up to warp speed and you feel like you are in an endless vortex, find a baby to hold. LOL! Instantly clouds will part, sunlight will shine and birds will sing. Thanks V and Michael for bringing in your cutie patootie bundles of joy during lunch last week! 🤗🤗🤗

So, it's 80 degrees in February. I know it's not for everybody. And Heaven only knows what it says about . But when I can get out on my bike and ride through the woods without having to wear 4 layers, it makes me smile! 😄

At midnight, my Church ended the Daniel Fast but I'm just now breaking it --with a bowl of cereal. 😆 This past month my body decreased. 10 pounds lighter. 💃🏾 But far better, my Spirit increased! Amen! Amen! Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church

As usual when I haven’t been training but decide I will somehow be able to “dig deep” and manage cycling 40 miles of wicked hills in Chappell Hill…I messed around and found out I didn’t have what it took to finish well. But….let the record show I did finish. Wasn’t pretty. Wasn’t fast. Wasn’t fun. But by golly, I completed the ride.
On a related topic, does DoorDash deliver Epsom Salts? 😆😩😆‼️😳

What a blast from the past…and the present! Happy 70th KHOU 11 News! Great celebration this weekend! So good seeing old friends and colleagues! And it’s not everyday you get to take a photo with legendary anchors like Steve Smith. I used to watch him on the news when I was a kid! Back when Houston had only 5 channels.

What’s it like meeting a living legend? Pretty awesome! This is Almeta Crawford. I’m a Here in Fort Bend ISD today we dedicated the high school that bears her name. It’s a beautiful 500,000 sq. ft. modern educational center in Rosharon. Ms. Crawford taught generations of FBISD students who went on to do great things. Many of them became teachers and are now principals due to her impact on their lives. She was so dedicated that when she was battling breast cancer years ago, she would leave radiation treatments and instead of going home to get a nap as her doctor ordered, she would return to Dulles High School to teach her students. She said that was her best medicine. For every Blessing she has provided to others and received herself —she always says one thing: To GOD be the Glory! 😊

Such a treat to catch up with my old compadre Sherry Dee Williams retired TV star and now Fort Bend ISD Communications Director. This woman calls every ball and strike exactly as she sees it and makes me laugh so hard my cheeks hurt. TV news died a little bit the day she left.
