We are getting our tiny cabin ready for it's first guests this weekend. Hopefully it's the first of many nightly rentals. The plans to put up a few more of the Cabins and rent them out throughout the year. Finally hatched out some Ayam Cemani chicks, I have 2 pure Ayam Cemani's, and 2 Appenzeller Cemani Mixe chicks here. It's to cold right not to collect the eggs so when it warms a bit ill be collecting and hatching more out. Well this has been in the list for a year now and finally it's time to do it, listen I know there's much better ways to do this but I already had the insulation and just needed the covering, I though about using 3" rigid and placing that in between the floor joists but this was cheaper and easier to do. This blade has been a game changer to clear small brush, it cuts through 1" twigs like butter, I used it to clear all the thorn brush under the apple trees, when spring comes ill take the brush hog and trim everything else down and will be able to keep it maintained. #modernhomestead #homestead #homesteading #diy #brush #chainsaw

Our primary Heat source is our woodstove but I do have a furnace and heat pump, let's go change the filter. These thing should be changed a few times a year, I use the cheapest filter I can as the fancy one just restrict your furnace. #modernhomestead #homestead #woodstove #heating #winter #furnace

This is how I power my diesel heater, it's a 200w 15a inverter and it's works great for these units, I've been running it with this power supply for 2 years with no issues. Yes there is alot of wasted heat from the exaust but it really dosent bother me as it makes more heat then I already need, I also did not want anything inside the garage, #modernhomestead #homestead #homesteading #diy #dieselheater #winter #heating

can't believe it's been 2 years since this video, looks at all the changes to the house and garage! we still make butter this way once in awhile with the kids, usually use the mixer now. Let's try this snow making machine again. I've removed 1 nozzel and added more elevation and it's still not performing, I'm sure I have the proper nozzels but I think it's just the rest of the equipment is undersized. When we got out feild bed installed they took out a huge pile of trees. I often get asked what we do with our alpacas, we'll for one they control the pastures, they get food and saves me from cutting it, they also get fleeced every year and and we collocts it to get processed into yarn.
