What happens to a dream deferred?

Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore—
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over—
like a syrupy sweet?

Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.

Politics
If there is poetry in broken needles

and lost generations
littering the alleys of New York
maybe there is poetry in politics
If there are glorious moments
in heinous wars,
(are there any other kind?)
Worthy of honors and tears
and quivering lips in foreign fields
maybe there is beauty in Washington
is it in kneeling interns...
proud to serve in whatever capacity
(and they mean "whatever")
staring up in mute admiration
as they really work it
the lobbyist getting that yes
from the cloying sycophants
who are our political class
that moral immoral superiority
as he strides out the door to a limo
with the ho**er and the bar
debauchery under blackened glass
but right out in front of god and everybody
shameless,,, is that where the poetry lies?
or is the only poetry left
carved into stone for the tourists to
gawk at the awesome naivety
of marble men

Was stopped by the police around 2 a.m. and was asked where I was going at that time of night.
I said, "I'm on my way to a lecture about alcohol abuse and the effects it has on the human body, as well as smoking and staying out late."
The officer asked, "Really? Who's giving that lecture at this time of night?"
I replied, "That would be my wife.

Men have their own sports.

Women have their own sports.

Disabled folks have their own sports as do the differently abled.

Maybe it is time trans athletes had their own sports as well.

Or to put it bluntly, let's all stick to our lanes.
