Is this likely-to-be-polarizing, psychologically violent allegory for gender politics and power dynamics albeit gorgeously shot a watch or a skip?

Kicking Episode 92 out of the nest….just for you!

Emcee and Alex record off schedule and apparently they drank several Red Bulls before recording so you get to thrill as they energetically go cuckoo for “Cuckoo” the eagerly anticipated horror thriller from new (wave?) German director Tilman Singer. Amidst the giallo-esque shadows and John Carpenter nods, a gorgeous cast including Hunter Schaefer, Jessica Henwick, and Dan Stevens spreads its wings to peck away at the central mystery of this sci-fi/supernatural tinged thriller. Jump scares, “genital snot”, and confusion abounds as your lovely hosts ruffle their feathers trying to understand just WTF is happening here. Flock along with the stumbling as Emcee explains it all to a stunned Cupcake.

But is this “Goodfellas” meets “Sons of Anarchy” worthy of its leather-studded colors or is it a rough ride with no air in the tires and water in the gas tank?

Directed by new wave French horror director Xavier Gens - who counts as his new wave compadres Alexandre Aja (“High Tension”), Bustillo and Maury (“Inside”), and Pascal Laugier (“Martyrs”) - Sous La Seine (it’s original French title) chums viewer expectations with the ultimate B movie Jaws-ripoff scenario: a shark in the Seine and the catacombs of Paris. Will streaming audiences take a bite out of this thriller that has plot points touching on evolution and climate change in addition to people getting chewed up Richard Shaw style or is this an uneven paced, cringe acting, lousy CGI a la SyFy cold fish?

For his plus, Emcee talks “State of the Movie Union” now that we are halfway through the film release year….there will be stats/numbers, business talk, and . Cupcake takes loyal listener Chris “Judd” Hoover’s suggestion and ventures into the theatres to “watch” an M. Night Shyamalan-adjacent film.

What do ‘all of us’ and a ‘train’ have in common? STRANGERS!!!! And so it comes to pass….the Watch/Skip’ers review the new horror/remake/reboot “Strangers - Chapter 1”, the first in a proposed trilogy-prequel to the cult 2008 original. This episode is dedicated to the dudes over at as we stole their format like strangers in the night - Emcee and Cupcake had a full slate weekend and the recording came together last minute with both hosts literally coming from their 6 PM showing and immediately recording. Hence, no Q&Alex, no Cast-Grab, don’t expect extensive research…we took it “on the fly”.

While Emcee has not-so-fond memories of the first film (Editor (Beanie): it’s a really good story. Not sure if I wanna high five Troy over at or scold him. More food in my bowl or I’ll gut you Strangers-style), he and Cupcake slice and dice the directed film (remember THAT guy?) starring a bunch of newcomers you’ve seen somewhere before but can’t place. Is this horror writ large and worthy of possibly pee-ing your pants from jump scares and dread or is it rancid cheese unworthy of the sniff.

For plusses, *sings* let’s all go to the lobby….let’s all go to the lobby…let’s all go to the lobbbbbyyyyy….where Cupcake talks movie treats. Then Emcee goes all chef-y on us.

Missing “APE-ril” by just THIS much, the fourth film/reboot of the reboot of the Tim-Burton inspired remake of the seminal 60’s smash Planet of the Apes roars into theatres, and Emcee and Cupcake have a front row seat to the apocalyptic zoo that is "Kingdom of the Planet of Apes”. The Wes Ball directed film hails CAESAR (the Moses central character of the original trilogy) but brings us new ape characters - some cute & bumbling, and others terrifying & sounding a lot like sexy . Is this a Kingdom worth visiting or does it belong in the dung heap of anthropomorphic, sign language using apes like that other adventure film with Amy the Gorilla.

For plusses, Alex takes a bite out of a new website, and Cupcake talks about a game-changing toy invention (just make sure your kids are NOT listening to that section). Stay tuned for Q & Alex when the Boys talk cell phones, first crushes, what to do with $10,000 bucks and where to spend it, and politics (Editor: This is Beanie. Notice I stayed away from recording? It’s because politics don’t belong on movie podcasts. Thank you and fill my F%^KING bowl!)
