Designing America is a ninety-minute film about the life and work of Frederick Law Olmsted. Olmsted is known as the father of American landscape architecture and the designer of major urban parks. Yet it is widely unknown that he pursued a variety of careers, trying (and often succeeding) to reform 19-century America in surprising ways. The film is a production of WNED-TV Buffalo/Toronto and Florentine Films/Hott Productions for national PBS broadcast.
