Be aware enough to know when someone doesn't value you. Be attentive enough to know when someone believes you are beneath them. Be wise enough to know when someone is putting you down. Their moves are usually subliminal although some people can be openly condescending. You can sense when someone doesn't want you to do better than them. You can know when they want to control you. It is not very hard to see when they try to limit your achievement or they will belittle any progress you are making.
