The wildfire threat will remain elevated for areas near and west of I-35/I-35W as a result of low afternoon humidity and temperatures up to 10 degrees above normal. Avoid outdoor burning, dragging chains from vehicles, tossing lit ci******es, or any other activity that may start a wildfire.

Jacksboro High School’s varsity volleyball team opened the season with an 11-25, 11-25, 14-25 loss Tuesday, Aug. 13 at Brock.
A young team had growing pains against the Class 4A Lady Eagles but continued to fight throughout. Brooke Reaves, Hayden Walker, and Lily Perez all had good games.
The Tigerettes will play in a tournament in Breckenridge beginning Thursday, Aug. 15.

UPDATE: According to the Jack County Sheriff’s Office, “after a very intense two-day search, the body of Mr. Gwalla was discovered in a creek about a mile away from his car” at approximately 4:30 p.m. Friday, July 26.

UPDATE: The suspect is in custody.

Jacksboro Police are asking residents to stay away from 5th Street from West Belknap to West Pine due to an active shooter situation in the area. Wise County SWAT is on its way to the scene.
