Australasian Supercar eSeries Season 7

Round 11 marked the grand finale of Season 7, and the racing spectacle unfolded once again at the iconic Daytona International Speedway, renowned as the home of superspeedway racing.
For the championship showdown Craig Roffey (145) leading the standings 13 points ahead of Andy Barber (132) with Kym Roffey in 3rd (124).

Qualifying would see the Southern Stars team take the first 3 starting positions. Tom Pritchard taking pole position and joined on the outside by Andy Barber. Adam Malone stating this one from 3rd with Craig Roffey on his outside. Starting from the 3rd row would be Kym Roffey and Chris Finlay. Notably, the top three championship contenders all graced the first three rows.

The early laps would see Raymond Jaeger surging up to the front to take over the lead from Pritchard before Barber would take over from Jaeger. An early caution would see a number of cars opt to come into the pits and take a fuel top up.

Craig Roffey, aiming for bonus points, led a lap before tactically dropping to the back on the restart to avoid potential trouble. Meanwhile, Pritchard and teammate Darren McKenzie collaborated effectively, battling the pinnacle team cars of Nigel Paton and Jaeger.

Distinct packs formed, with lead changes occurring up front while the second pack played it safe. By lap 20, Andrew Carr, Brent Hobbs, and Peter Mattson took charge. Adam Malone, recovering from a tech issue, unlapped himself, hoping for a caution to re-join the lead lap battle pack – a wish granted on lap 22.

Troy Davidson would lead the restart and McKenzie would battle his way up to the front to take over the lead. The racing momentarily calmed down a bit here as drivers logged race laps. After having enough of that the race for the lead would go into a 3 wide battle for a number of laps between McKenzie, Jaeger and Mattson before Mattson was able to clear and drop down to the front of the low line.

Determined to lead a lap both Garry Wellman and Malone would charge up from the back to the front to lead a lap before deciding to drop to the back of the pack just as fast as they charged to the front.

By lap 45 the racing was starting to get aggressive again as McKenzie would find himself 3 wide in a My Private Seller sandwich between Greg Spencer and Paton. Green flag pit stops commenced from lap 53 onwards and drivers would still need another pit stop from here to make the full race distance.

After the pit stop cycle Mattson would be in the lead but the pack would be chasing him down fast lead by Kym Roffey.

This stint saw a lot of single file running as driver were setting up for their final pit stop. The less fuel needed to make it home the less stationary time on the pit stop. With 28 laps to go Mattson would lead but be surrounded by Jaeger and Adam Johnson who were battling for the lucky dog position.

Mattson would pit from the lead with 22 laps to go and Davidson would take over the lead. Rogue Sim Sports drivers would hit pit road with 18 laps to go and with 17 laps to go the Simbois as well as the Southern Stars teammates would all hit pit road. Paton and Justin Whitcher would stay out long till 14 laps to go before pitting.

From here the action was on with 3 wide battle packs from 5th on back as a 4-car front pack was working together to stay 3.5 seconds ahead of the main pack.

A caution would come out with 12 laps to go and series championship contenders Barber and Kym Roffey both picked up big damage that effectively ends their championship runs. Craig Roffey manages to get through OK.

The restart with 8 to go saw immediate 3 wide racing but another caution with 5 laps to go. The cautions would come thick and fast in this final run to the flag. A restart with 2 laps to go and 3 wide racing for the lead between Spencer, Mattson and McKenzie. Another caution and a Green White Checker restart. Spencer leads this one from Mattson and Hobbs. More contact at the front and another caution would see the race finish under yellow with Aaron Dillon in the lead from Whitcher and Craig Roffey sealing the championship with a 3rd place finish.

The season concluded with Craig Roffey (181) as the season 7 champion. 2nd in the championship would be Garry Wellman (154) and Kym Roffey (151) would finish 3rd. Andy Barber (142) ended up finishing 4th in the championship.

Garry Wellman would take the overall year championship blitzing the field.

In the team’s championship for season 7 the Simbois would take the championship with 393 points. Southern Stars in 2nd with 386 points, Rogue Sim Sports 380 points and Pinnacle e Sports 371 points.

So that now wraps up the year for the Australasian Super E Series.

Enjoy the break and have a good festive season!!

Australasian Supercar eSeries Season 7

Round 10 brought us back to the iconic 1.5-mile Oval of Charlotte Motor Speedway.

In qualifying, it was Adam Malone who secured the pole position, and he was joined on the front row by the ever-competitive Troy Davidson. The 2nd row was occupied by the formidable Garry Wellman and the tenacious Chris Finlay. The 3rd row had Kym Roffey joined by Darren McKenzie.

The early stages of the race saw Malone setting a blistering pace while the pack behind him battled two-wide, trying to find their rhythm. However, just as things were heating up, the race's first caution flag flew on lap 6, interrupting their charge to the front. It appeared that the cars were a handful in the early going, struggling to get their tires up to the right temperature.

With the exception of the front two, the rest of the field opted to pit for a quick fuel top-up during the caution period. On the restart, Malone and McKenzie led the way, maintaining control at the front as the other drivers settled into single-file racing for the top 10 positions.

Several drivers attempted to make the high line work, but it wasn't until lap 19 when Justin Whitcher decided to give it a go from 9th position. By lap 24, he had made his way into the top 3, only to fall victim to a dreaded "net code" issue between 2 other drivers, causing a pileup that involved several front runners, including Whitcher.

The pit road saw a flurry of activity with drivers seeking repairs, fuel, and fresh tires. Aiden Schultz would lead the field to the next restart, but an unfortunate incident involving contact with Kayd Donnelly led to a chain reaction wreck, inflicting massive damage on Schultz, Donnelly, and Malone. Craig Roffey, a contender for the series championship, narrowly escaped a stationary car in the chaos.

Peter Mattson briefly led after the next race restart but was soon overtaken by Garry Wellman and Tom Pritchard, who traded the lead position. On lap 42, Andy Barber, who had started the race from the 23rd position had done his best Cole Trickle impression and “Dropped the Hammer” taking over the lead of the race. The front rows engaged in tough side-by-side racing.

Troy Davidson's streak of bad luck continued as he slowed down to avoid a car recovering from a half-spin, only to be hit from behind, resulting in damage. Once again, all drivers made their way to pit road for necessary supplies.

Whitcher led the next restart and engaged in a fierce side-by-side battle with Todd Maxfield for nearly 30 laps. The field stacked up side-by-side behind them, making for an intense spectacle. Just as the drivers were gearing up for green flag pit stops, another caution emerged. With the final required pit stop needed for the night done and dusted, it was Parry Anastakis of Rogue Sim Sports leading the restart, with Craig Roffey now alongside him in the outside lane.

The racing that followed was nothing short of fascinating, as the Simbois, Maxfield and Wellman, controlled the front, while C. Roffey battled tenaciously for several laps, trying to figure out a way around their tactic. At times, C. Roffey managed to make it three-wide in the middle but had to back off to avoid contact, resulting in a tightly packed field vying for position. Maxfield left a brief opening, and Roffey seized the opportunity to pass. However, Maxfield swiftly reclaimed his position, leading to an exciting cat-and-mouse battle.

Another caution brought the race to a restart with just 14 laps to go. Maxfield and Barber led the lines after opting not to pit during this caution. Once again, Maxfield and Wellman executed their strategy perfectly up front, but Whitcher decided to go three-wide, making it work for a few laps before contact with the outside wall on the exit of the Tri-Oval forced him into contact with Wellman, ending the night for both drivers and setting up a green-white-checkered finish.

The final two laps delivered a thrilling battle among the top five cars, but it was Barber who found the perfect run off turn 4, securing the victory. Maxfield claimed 2nd place, and Koby Jordan also managed a brilliant run off turn 4 to sn**ch 3rd place in an action-packed finish.

Next week, the drivers head to the Classic Daytona Super Speedway for 100 laps with the championship on the line!!

31/10/2023

Australasian Supercar eSeries Season 7 Round 9 took us to the legendary Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, and as we've seen throughout the season, Craig Roffey once again asserted his road course dominance. From the very start, it was evident that Roffey was the one to beat.

Roffey secured pole position for this race, and he was joined on the front row by another Roffey, this time in the form of Shane Roffey, making it a Rogue Sim Sports front-row lockout. The second row featured Andy Barber and Kayd Donnelly, with Tom Pritchard and Garry Wellman forming the third row.

As the lights went out and the race kicked off, Craig Roffey got a fantastic launch, quickly establishing himself as the leader. On the other hand, Donnelly struggled with tire grip and found himself swarmed by competitors, dropping down to 12th place by the first corner.

Aiden Schultz faced an early setback when he was spun around on the exit of the bus stop, but he would mount a strong recovery throughout the race. However, he encountered further challenges, including a drive-through penalty as off-track incidents accumulated.

From the early stages of the race, it became apparent that drivers would need to make two pit stops to cover the full race distance. One stop for a full tank of gas and a second stop for a quick fuel top-up, with the choice of tire changes based on individual preferences.

Donnelly's evening took a turn for the worse when he had contact with a crossed-up Darren McKenzie, resulting in both cars ending up in a gravel trap. Fortunately, both drivers were able to continue, with McKenzie eventually recovering to a respectable 7th position. Donnelly, however, faced multiple penalties after another off-track excursion, requiring repairs, and ultimately had to park his car after just 5 laps.

The points leader entering the race, Kym Roffey, encountered a bit of a rough night as well. While running solidly within the top 10 in the early stages of the race, a pit lane speeding penalty on lap 10 pushed him down the order, ultimately finishing in 12th position.

The first pit stop cycle unfolded between laps 10 and 13, and by lap 14, Craig Roffey had regained the lead. Roffey engaged in intense battles and strategic exchanges with Andy Barber, with both drivers encountering off-track slowdowns.

The final round of pit stops commenced with 8 laps to go, as cars came in for quick fuel top-ups to ensure they could complete the remaining race distance.

In the end, it was Craig Roffey who continued his road course dominance and secured the victory with a 2.1-second margin over Andy Barber, while Tom Pritchard claimed the third spot on the podium. Shane Roffey finished in 4th, and Troy Davidson impressed with a strong run, crossing the finish line in 5th place after starting 9th.

The series will shift its focus back to the ovals next week, as drivers head to Charlotte Motor Speedway for 134 laps of intense racing.

Season 7 Round 6 brought the Australasian Supercar eSeries to Chicagoland.

Craig Roffey would continue his show of speed this season taking pole position for the start of this race. He would be joined on the outside by Troy Davidson. Tom Pritchard would start 3rd with a returning Raymond Jaeger on his outside. Makin up the 3rd row would be Justin Whitcher and Garry Wellman.

The early laps would see Jaeger and Whitcher link up and work together to take the lead and set the pace until they were caught by a 4-car group of Simbois cars. Lots of 3 to 4 wide racing action going on throughout the field.

The first caution of the race would come out on lap 9 and would see Todd Maxfield and Davidson involved. Both taking big damage to their cars. Jaeger would take damage avoiding the wreck and championship top runners C Roffey and Wellman would do a great job avoiding the wreck.

Aaron Dillon controls the lead on the restart from Kayd Donnolly and we would see aggressive 3 wide racing for the lead. Jaeger would restart from the rear and charged up to the top 10 in a matter of laps.

Lap 34 would see big contact for Aiden Schultz who with Dillon did a great job of saving their cars and avoiding causing a big wreck at the front of the field. Peter Mattson would kick start the green flag pit cycle on lap 48 but big contact between Jaeger slowing for pit lane and Adam Malone would see Jaegers’s car spin back out on to the track. Once again C Roffey doing another great job to avoid the wreck.

This restart would have Whitcher leading on the point Contact between Brian Blundell and C Roffey would see Roffey make contact with the wall and pick-up right-side damage. Andy Barber now powering up to the lead. Lap 70 seeing a 3 car battle for the lead between Blundell, Jaeger and Barber.

Lap 80 would see Wellman’s luck run out and be caught up in the caution. Mattson ends up rolling the car about 5 times along the racetrack and Wellman has big damage. Both of the championship leaders having a rough night so far.

With 26 laps to go Malone would have the lead but contact with Jaeger wrecks both cars. Jaeger getting nailed by B Blundell and takes the car behind the wall. Good news for C Roffey and Chris Finlay as they are able to get back onto the lead lap with this caution.

Whitcher would lead the next restart and battle with Donnelly for the lead until another caution would come out with 13 laps to go. The next restart with 8 laps to go Donnolly would control the lead.

5 laps to go would see a massive wreck up the front which takes out Donnolly, Whitcher and several other drivers. When the dust settled Nigel Paton would have the lead for the Green White Checkered finish. Most cars in the field would now have some bit of damage on their cars. This would contribute to the next caution as the speed difference between cars on the restart would see contact and set up another Green White Checkered finish.

The final restart Paton leads but is unable to hold off a fast-finishing Kym Roffey but battle Finlay right to the finish line.
Kym Roffey keeping the car clean and charging home for the win.

Next week sees the Series rolls into Spa for a 60 Minute road race.

17/10/2023

Round 7 of Season 7 brought the Australasian Supercar eSeries to Autoclub, and it was a race that would keep fans on the edge of their seats.

The Southern Stars teammates dominated qualifying, securing the first four positions on the grid. Darren McKenzie started from pole alongside Andy Barber, while Adam Malone and Tom Pritchard made up the second row. Aiden Schultz and Craig Roffey completed the third row, setting the stage for an exciting race.

Right from the green flag, Craig Roffey launched with lightning speed, advancing five positions to seize the lead on the very first lap. Soon, the Simbois team drivers joined the front-runners, making for some intense racing. The wide track at Autoclub allowed for thrilling three and four-wide battles throughout the field.

By Lap 33, McKenzie had regained the lead, but the multi-wide racing action persisted. The first round of green flag pit stops commenced around Lap 39, with most drivers looking to stretch their fuel tanks to around 40 laps.

After the pit stops cycled through, C. Roffey found himself in a heated battle with Kym Roffey and McKenzie. Three distinct packs of cars emerged but, with teamwork, the first two packs began to merge once again. Greg Spencer, Pritchard, and Chris Finlay worked together to close the gap between the third pack and the leaders.

During this green flag run, drivers opted to conserve fuel in hopes of minimizing their final pit stop's stationary time. A single line of cars ran the high line, biding their time for the opportune moment.

With 30 laps remaining, contact between Aaron Dillon and Malone nearly caused a major accident, but both drivers displayed incredible car control and avoided disaster.

The second round of green flag pit stops began with about 25 laps to go, with Justin Whitcher emerging as the leader with a substantial 4-second advantage. The chasing pack, however, gradually closed the gap, setting the stage for an intense battle with 11 laps left.

The last 10 laps delivered plenty of action as drivers continuously swapped the lead. Breathtaking drafting runs and side-to-side contact were the norm. Contact between Garry Wellman and Pritchard saw them lose positions. The race remained green, and further contact up front led to Whitcher and Barber spinning out, but they managed to finish the race.

3 wide racing for the lead and lots of bumping side to side contact. Contact between Spencer and Dillon would see Spencer spin out and hit the inside wall for significant damage. The race would continue green. More contact up front would see Whitcher and Barber spin out but still able to finish the race.

Craig Roffey held on to claim the race win, with Schultz finishing second and Troy Davidson taking the third spot on the podium.

Next week sees the series roll into Chicagoland Speedway for 134 lap race.

26/09/2023

Round 6 Season 7 would see the Australasian Supercar eSeries roll into Watkins Glen International Classic Boot for the 2nd road course of the season.

Craig Roffey would continue his road course dominance of season 7 seizing pole position. Joined at the front of the grid by Kayd Donnelly. Andy Barber would start 3rd with Daren McKenzie beside him. Garry Wellman would start from 5th with Shane Roffey starting 6th.

As the lights went out and the race began, Donnelly and Wellman lit up their tires only to be swamped by the field with Shane Roffey getting a flyer up to 3rd by turn 1. Donnelly dropping down to 10th by the exit of turn 1 while while Craig Roffey steadily started pulling away from the pack.

On Lap 4, Donnelly's misfortunes escalated as he spun out on the final corner exit, leaving his Follow Simboi teammate, Troy Davidson, with no option but to T-bone him, ending his night and causing significant damage for Davidson.

With fuel tank load restrictions necessitating two pit stops to complete the race distance, McKenzie became the first driver to hit pit road at the end of Lap 6 for a refuel. The majority of the field opted to run on their fuel load and pitted at the end of Lap 10.

Tom Pritchard managed to gain a lap led during this pit cycle, preventing Craig Roffey from completing a clean sweep of the race. Roffey, however, settled back into his rhythm and began setting consistently fast lap times. The race was filled with exciting two-car battles, including the ongoing duel between the orange cars of Pritchard and Shane Roffey. Justin Whitcher and Peter Mattson also engaged in a fierce battle throughout a substantial portion of the race.

The second round of pit stops began around Lap 18 to 20, with drivers only needing a quick top-up of fuel to finish the race. This time, Craig Roffey maintained enough of a margin to retain the lead.

In the end, Craig Roffey crossed the finish line in first place, securing yet another race win to continue his good season 7. Garry Wellman claimed the runner-up position, followed closely by Daren McKenzie in third. Pritchard and Shane Roffey rounded out the top five finishers. It was a highly successful night for Rogue Sim Sports, with all three Roffey brothers finishing in the top ten. Additionally, Southern Stars enjoyed a strong showing, with all four of their drivers finishing within the top 11.

The series now takes a 2 week off break to enjoy a long weekend and then the next weekend is the weekend of the great race so we can imagine several drivers will be at the mountain to enjoy the Van Gisbergen/ Stanaway race win!!! Give em a taste of Kiwi boys!! 😛

P.S If you are at the mountain watch out for the Simbois!!!!! 😛
