YOO-HOO! Big summer blowout!
When I thought about visiting Arendelle, the first character I actually wanted to dress as was Oaken. I mean, he even has a food stand in Fantasy Springs! I searched soo long for weeks for a patterned sweater similar to his and was about to give up when I came across this vintage one. I knew I wouldn't find an exact copy (and I also didn't want to buy one of those cosplay ones) but omg, I couldn't believe it when I saw this one and how close the colors were!! 😱
$15 later and it was packed for Japan and ready to go. And even though I saw the weather was going to be around 90 degrees and 80% humidity, I decided I was going to brave the heat and wear it anyways. 🥵And just to be completely honest, I only lasted about 10 min before having to take this off.🤪

My merry thought has to be wearing this Wendy outfit b/c believe it or not, making this dress has been on my cosplay list for ages. I'm so happy I got the chance to wear this to Fantasy Springs as I explored Neverland, the Lost Boys hideout, and even Hook's pirate ship!
I found this super soft satin at a local fabric store and actually used a simple wedding pattern for the dress (will link in my stories). The pattern was incredibly straightforward to follow and the twirl factor was definitely 10/10.

Hey Y'all! Let's visit the TVA!
I must have traveled through the right time door bc when I found out there would be a TVA experience while in the middle of making my Loki cosplay, I knew it was meant to be.
I had no idea what to expect when we got recruited to enter the TVA and there were surprises around every corner. It really felt like I was right in the show- from all the set details to Miss Minutes and all the time doors, I guess you could say I enjoyed every minute of it. And I thought I had seen everything until Rocket Raccoon showed up. I think you can hear it in our voices how shocked we all were when he started talking to us.😆 Maybe this is the latest and greatest way to interact with characters on screen (sort of like Crush at DCA maybe?), but either way it was incredibly well done.

Meeting the one and only, Jim Lee!
So for those of you that don’t know the fully story, when Jim Lee turned 50, he decided to celebrate by doing 50 sketches and then hid them all around SDCC that year. He would sometimes tweet clues to the location or even slip them into people’s giant con bags to surprise the fans. That year, I ran into Jim in our hotel elevator and mentioned that I had been running around looking for his sketches everywhere - at one point, I sprinted out of the Hall H line and crossed the railway tracks to get to the Nobu restaurant where I think a sketch was hidden. Anyhow, I hadn’t had any luck. Being a Jim Lee fan for decades now, I’ve luckily had a few chances to meet and chat with him especially when I used to travel in the gaming industry and somehow he remembered me from back in the day as we talked about his hidden sketches. And as we were leaving the elevator, he asked about our room number and I blurted it out as we were exiting the doors. 🤔
That night, we were headed to a nighttime premiere screening of the Gotham series and spent the next couple hours watching a sneak peak of the show. Once we were done, we headed back to our hotel room and even though I had a tiny suspicion in the back of my mind of the possibility that maybe Jim left us a sketch, I totally did not expect it to come true. I was truly in shock (as you can tell by my face) and it’s still such a crazy story to me, but I’m also not surprised given how nice of a person he is.
And so now here were are 10 years later, full circle, where I was able to thank him for the sketch and finally get it made out to me. Thank you @jimlee and @joke2far for making my con so memorable that year - and this year too!❤️❤️❤️

Now that I got your attention… Here’s how I made this Dug the Dog messenger bag for only $8 (and some change)! I still can’t believe I only had to go to the thrift store once to find the perfect sized bag for Dug. It was like it was meant to be. I must have sketched the purse design at least 10 times to get the proportions the way I wanted and also to figure out how to capture Dug-like eyes, but I’m so happy with how it turned out. I did consider a darker sherpa- there was no real “golden” tan available, but I think tan ended up being the better choice over using a darker camel color.
Also, I’m so happy I finally got to make use of my @theconrangers merit badges and wear these SDCC badges proudly!! I’ve been collecting these since they first debuted and have bought at least 1 every year since.
And best of all, Dug’s reaction was priceless. Moments like these makes me really feel for the cast members at the park and what they're going through right now. I used to rarely interact with characters until maybe about 2 years ago and once I did, I realized how amazing it could be. And what makes the memory so amazing? Cast members! Without them you wouldn't have those warm fuzzy feelings you get when you hug your favorite character or they do something special to make your day. Wishing all the cast members out there luck and hope they can get their much deserved raises!✊🏼

Meeting Meilin and her mom PART 2!
I had such a memorable experience meeting Meilin and her mom at the Lunar New Year celebration this year so I could not wait to see them again at Pixar Fest. I was even more excited to finally get to wear some of my Turning Red gear and more importantly to also start using my new 3D printer - yay!
It took me a couple tries with the design to figure out what I actually wanted it to look like, but I think I finally got the hang of it and if anything, I kinda wish I made it even bigger!
Also, you never know how characters might react to your outfit and I’m so glad Meilin noticed my necklace right away - I guess how could you not see it? Hopefully this is just the start of more fun 3D printing projects! What else should I make?

I never thought I'd have a whole shirt dedicated to Jar Jar, but this one happens to be in my favorite shade of purple and I'm loving the graphic and the oversized fit.
