LOOK: Group 2 of BSED major in Filipino third year students, applied the discussion techniques TEACH OK and HOTSEAT as strategies on their presentation in EDUC 20 "Building and Enhancing Literacy across the Curriculum."

Group 2 of the Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Filipino third-year students presented their assigned topic with the strategy TEACH OKAY and HOTSEAT. This is under their course Educ 20: Building and Enhancing Literacy Across Curriculum with the assigned topic, The Basic Strategies for Developing Literacy, held at the Aklan State University-Ibajay Campus, Octagon Building, last Tuesday, February 20.

The group two of the BSED third year students major in Filipino presented their assigned topics using the emerging of discussion techniques, teach okay and hot seat. Teach okay was used as a form of collaborative learning between pairs, enabling each student to think critically on how to share their own comprehension after every topic discussed. This is similar to a think- pair -share type of technique. The group two strategized the discussion using the teach okay technique and assessed their classmates learning with the hot seat strategy. This is to test each pairs understanding and memory.

The topic discussed was the 6 Basic Strategies in developing literacy. Each member elaborated and presented their assigned basic strategy. Ms. Louremar Tomines discussed the topic on Making Connections. Ms. Grachelle T. Luces and Ms. Marvelyn F. Belgica talked about visualizing. While Ms. Rose Ann I. Suyod tackled about inferring. Questioning, determining importance, and synthesizing were presented by Ms. Aliyah Xyza B. Domingo, Ms. Ma. Sandra F. Calma, Ms. Pinky Rose M. Sadiasa and Ms. Jifone T. Paulino. Each member conquered the challenge to provide their own understanding shown in each discussion.

After the presentation, the hot seat strategy was put into a buzz game concept. The buzz game aimed to create a fun and engaging assessment for the students to enjoy. The instructions for the buzz game were each pair of both team 1 and team 2 will be given a question to be answered. By pressing the buzzer, the team will be given a chance. This is by one of the pairs describing to their partner their understanding of the answer in mind, letting the other one guess it. At the end, the team was declared the winner with two points out of three questions.

The presentation aimed to promote collaborative learning and enhance the engagement of each student among their peers while also assessing their own comprehension and understanding on every topic. In this way, the teacher is able to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of their teaching among student's newly acquired understanding and shared ideas to their assigned pair.

The presentation ended with a message from the course instructor Mrs. Jennie M. Zaragosa.
