So Friday, May 13th marked a very special day, for various reasons. One of those reasons was that it was the release date for Kendrick Lamar's highly anticipated 5th studio album, "Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers." Now The Grooves Boys are all big fans of Kendrick, so, the moment we learned about the release date, we immediately jumped on the opportunity to make a special installment of Inbetween The Grooves for it. Two days later, The Grooves Boys assembled to discuss their initial thoughts on the album. With the goal being to get this out, while the release was still very much fresh, this episode features a much more unedited experience. It's been pretty quiet over here (been a lot transitions going on) but I wanted to take a moment for a little humble brag. recently got awarded the "Gold Award" for the 2021 HEAR now Festival's Podcast Palooza. A nation wide Festival for all things related to the Audio Arts. Their recognition of the unbelievable hard work that everyone invested into this project is so appreciated. With us now 1 month into 2021, there seems to already be an abundance of events to reflect on. The transition from 2020 is still so fresh, yet we've been presented with some developments that are promising or terrifying. The wounds are still fresh, but one good thing that came from 2020 (for us at least) was the creation of our first-in-house production. In celebration of that, along with the new year to look forward to, we've uploaded the Table Read we hosted for back in 03/07/2020. For those who're curious for learning more about the process of Smothered's creation, you should definitely check it out. It's also a great way to learn about the the first interpretations each cast member had of their character. It's equally informative as it is entertaining, but it fill us with an overwhelming amount of joy to be reminded of this piece's evolution. Cheers, folks. Stay safe. Stay healthy.
