Who, what, why?
I started as most do, recording at home in my bedroom. Back then I was working off a Toshiba notebook with the slowest CPU going and some basic software that came free with the first proper mic I picked up. That was the start of my obsession...
The main reason I decided to setup Ride or D.I. is to give a raw recording experience because to me, music these days is becoming massively overproduced. Everybody wants the biggest studios, with a vast amount of gear and a clean, sparkly record whether it’s rock, pop or hip-hop. The challenge of making the best sounding record with little gear and a space of your choice creates an exciting recording process and I’m all for it!
Being a mobile service means the studio travels to you - saves the taxi fare at least. You choose the recording space, whether it’s Abbey Road Studios or a remote island off the west coast of Scotland. Whether you’re a pro at what you do and gig regularly, or you’re just wanting to get the latest idea down give me a shout.
