Last fall, Hot Shoe Media had the great privilege of producing the book trailer for The Scarlet Veil, the newest book by Shelby Mahurin, the New York Times bestselling author of the Serpent and Dove series.

This was one of the most ambitious projects that Hot Shoe has taken on. It pushed us to grow and learn in areas of set building, special and practical effects, and photography.

The greatest reward was getting to see the trailer run in Times Square! It was a surreal experience and one where we feel that we truly grew as a company. We couldn’t have gotten over the finish line without the help of some amazing collaborators. Stay tuned in the coming days for some behind the scenes showing how we brought this world to life!

One of the biggest projects we have undertaken as a company was in collaboration with the great people at Texas Association of Community Health Centers (TACHC) highlighting their success improving diabetes outcomes across Texas through their Quality Axis initiative, among many other pressing health topics.

We packed up a van and trekked from Atlanta to Texas, filming at 11 different community health centers from Houston all the way to El Paso over the course of 4 weeks getting to interview over 45 incredible individuals.

Those four weeks of filming resulted in a 25-minute documentary, 3 promotional videos, and 6 educational videos that were edited in-house at Hot Shoe Media. It was truly an honor to meet and interview so many of the unsung heroes on the frontline of the community health movement!

Documentary filmmaking is one of our company’s greatest passions, so it was an honor to get to shoot segments for the BBC’s recent short doc, “No Say Over My Body.” Getting to help tell these important stories is a huge reason why we do what we do.

We are thrilled to share the second installment of the “Party to a Crime” web series that we are producing with TSR3 Justice Center (Link: https://youtu.be/TE8ULOruea0)

This episode is titled “Welcome Home, Unc” and follows a man navigating the complicated emotions of a surprise welcome home party thrown for him after serving a 10 year prison sentence.

Last year, we had the incredible opportunity to produce a series of documentary shorts for TRHT Selma, Black Belt Community Foundation, and the Selma Center for Nonviolence, Truth & Reconciliation.

As a company of Alabamians, it was an honor to help these great organizations shine a light on some incredible people who are working to change the world.
