New Swans album The Beggar available for preorders now. Here's what Michael Gira has to say about it:

“After numerous pandemic-induced cancellations of tours for the previous Swans album leaving meaning, and an apparent bottomless pit of waiting, waiting, waiting, and the strange disorientation that came with this sudden but interminable forced isolation I decided it was time to write songs for a new Swans album and forget about everything else. They came relatively easily, always informed by the suspicion that these could be my last. When I finally was able to travel, songs in hand, to Berlin to work with my friends recording this record, the feeling was akin to the moment in The Wizard of Oz when the film changes from Black and White to Color. Now I’m feeling quite optimistic. My favourite color is pink. I hope you enjoy the album!” – Michael Gira

Greetings. I'm pleased to announce that the limited edition version of my book "The Knot" is now available. ( https://younggodrecords.com/products/the-knot )The Knot contains a great majority of the short fiction I have written (including most of the stories from The Consumer, The Egg, and other hand made books), extensive journal entries from the years 1982 - Present, as well as the words to every song I have written and released in all my various projects throughout the years. Also included is an end section with full color images of journal entries, sketches in the journals, and various artworks from the years 1974 - Present. This book and the music I've made constitute the work I will leave behind when I depart the earth.

Hello There!

This is to let you know there is now a fundraiser available for the new Swans album. Your support will go a long way in ensuring a fully realized and well produced album. The songs for the new album were written over the last year or so in the midst of the seemingly endless pandemic, in which, at the time of this writing, we still somehow find ourselves. We had planned an extensive tour for the last album, Leaving Meaning, but it was canceled, and then rescheduled again several times before we finally and abjectly conceded defeat and decided to wait it out. After a period of deep and dulled depression stemming primarily from the inability to move forward, I finally decided to abandon plans for that tour entirely and to instead write new songs for a new album. The result is the 10 songs now available here (https://younggodrecords.com/products/is-there-really-a-mind ). As is usual in the process, these are simple versions of the songs performed at home with acoustic guitar and my voice. Though the performances here stand on their own these recordings will also act as a template for the coming work with other musicians (see list of musicians at the link). At my current station in the life cycle I’m increasingly aware that this (or any) effort might be my last. I believe these songs contain something of that sense of finality and the urgency of countering it… My gratitude for your support in funding the recordings and my outsized appetite for sound knows no bounds. At certain times the urge to just give up has been quite seductive, but I’m reminded that there’s a core group of people that care about the work and receive meaning from it, and that knowledge helps to propel me forward.
