Following a big endorsement from Congressman Chuy Garcia, Alexi just announced more unions are getting behind his candidacy for Illinois SOS.
More Big News.. Our momentum continues...
I'm honored to recieve the support of Painters District Council No. 30. PDC 30 is a well‐known hub of election activity in the Illinois Collar Counties, the region that surrounds the population‐heavy Cook County. It likes to connect early with candidates and share its vision for a partnership between labor unions and local, state, and national leaders that focuses on community and economic development; job creation that guarantees fair wages, strong healthcare and pension benefits, and investments in apprenticeship and training; and supporting every individual’s right to unionize and collectively bargain.
“Something we really like about Alexi is that he listens,” says Anderson. “He engages us with questions about what we can do together to help Illinois’ communities thrive.” PDC 30’s endorsement also recognizes Giannoulias’ commitment to restoring trust between government and the people. Anderson explains: “There are many ways this important state office and its agencies can help working families see the good side of government, and the importance of electing pro-labor leaders in Illinois. We want to support a leader who looks out for the welfare of the majority, not just the wealthy and powerful.”
I’m honored and incredibly excited to have earned the endorsement of PDC 30 and I will stand strong with their members who comprise their nine local unions in suburban Chicago and in Northern and Central Illinois. I will advocate for them and fight for all Illinois workers who want nothing more than the opportunity to earn a fair wage, receive affordable healthcare and build a better life for their families. I will amplify their voices in Springfield and ensure they get heard.
PDC 30’s headquarters is approximately 50 miles west of Chicago in Kane County. PDC 30 – a District Council – is a collection of 9 local unions affiliated with the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, with a jurisdiction that covers 29 Illinois counties and includes the larger cities of Elgin, Rockford, Aurora, and Peoria. Known to many for its iconic sign along Route 88 near the exit for Orchard Road, PDC 30 enjoys strong visibility among labor unions in the building and construction trades.
