Empowering Lives Through Technology: A Day of Meaningful Assistance

In Las Vegas, I recently had the opportunity to sit down with a gentleman facing technological challenges in his job search. With a rich background in construction, specializing in drywall and painting, he is happy in career in towards traffic flagging—a job that resonated with his passion and experience.

As we worked together, fine-tuning his résumé and navigating the intricacies of online applications, it struck me how privileged I am to possess the skills that can make a significant impact in someone's life. In a world dominated by modern technology, not everyone finds it easy to navigate the digital landscape, especially when seeking employment.

Witnessing the transformation in his job search journey, I felt a profound sense of gratitude for being able to extend a helping hand. Guiding him through the process on platforms like Indeed, we tailored his résumé to highlight his diverse talents accumulated over the years.

The realization that I could play a part in providing someone with the opportunity to thrive and support themselves was truly humbling. It's a reminder that amidst the hustle of our daily lives, taking a moment to assist those in need is a fulfilling purpose in itself.

After a long day of work and battling fatigue, sitting down to help others navigate the digital world felt like a calling. In a world buzzing with technology, bridging the gap for those less familiar is a small yet impactful way to make a difference. Here's to using our talents to uplift others and create a ripple effect of positive change.

💪🏼 Know your strengths
These questions can be used alone, or used with the book club.

These questions are from the book Great Work Great Career📕

⭐️ To successfully close the deal in a job interview and find your career direction, it's crucial to understand your strengths.
⭐️Save these initial questions about yourself, and we'll use them to craft a compelling contribution statement by gathering more information.

1. Talents
What unique knowledge, talents or skills do you have that can help you make a contribution?
What do you do easily and well?
What do people ask you to do because you’re good at it?
If someone were to ask your boss or coworkers to list your talents, what would they say?

2. Passion
What job related opportunities are you passionate about?
What do you spend your free time on? What do you get energized about?
What do you feel like arguing about? What do you read?
What did you do as a child that intrigued you?
What job related experiences have you had that excited you?

3. Conscience
What is your real responsibility to your organization your customers and your coworkers?

One of the ways I give back is by helping others feel confident in their résumé, interviewing and stepping out and being willing.

I feel that I am blessed to have the opportunity to help another person with their résumé and preparing for an interview.

Think about it:

What do you do easily and well?

What do people ask you to do because you’re good at it?

🌍 “We are moving from the Industrial Age into the Knowledge Age.”
- Steven R. Covey

📕 From the book. Great Work, Great Career:
The difference between the Industrial Age and the Knowledge Age is the world is now calling on us to make the contribution. And the industrial age workers were treated like machines. They basically didn’t want you to contribute anything unique or unexpected to the job.

But the Knowledge worker is the opposite of a machine you can choose the problems that you work on, and you can create solutions. There’s no limit to the contribution you can make.

The topic of Interviews:

Interviews can be nerve-wracking for everyone, but I've found that letting loose and having some fun with it can actually be a great approach. It's like turning the whole thing into a chance to figure out what the job is really about and what they're looking for.

Here are some personal tips I use that might make the whole interviewing thing a bit easier:

1. Get to Know the Job Description: Take a good look at the job description before the interview. When you're in there, try to connect your experiences and skills with what they're looking for. It's basically showing them you're the person they're after. Also, research and know any unfamiliar terms.

2. Do Your Homework on the Company: Check out who owns the company, when they started, what their profit and loss and where they do business. Find out what challenges they're facing. This will help you see the direction of the company and see their strong points and weaknesses.

3. Nail the Closing: Learn how to wrap things up nicely. Express your interest in the job and that you are the right person for their team and company.

3. Post-Interview Brain Dump: After the interview, jot down all the questions you can remember. It's like creating your own little database to review and get better for the next round.

4. Don't Be Picky with Interviews: Even if you're not super into the company, go for the interview anyway. These are practice runs and one day it will pay off.

5. Remember, You're Choosing Too: It's not just about them picking you; you're picking them too. Ask about the team, how they manage things, and what they're looking to improve. It's your time to sell yourself and seal the deal.

6. Remember if they don't pick you, be grateful and know the world has something better for you around the corner.

So, in a nutshell, approach interviews like a pro, but don't forget to make it a bit fun and see it as a two-way street. After all, you're there to figure out if it's the right fit for you too! No

I'm Robyn, and my professional journey has taken me through various roles—from being a business owner, a dedicated stay-at-home mom, a part-time hairstylist, and a college student, to now thriving as an Information System Analyst.

Having faced the challenges of re-entering the workforce, I've dedicated myself to not only overcoming those hurdles but also assisting others on a similar journey. I've honed my skills through endless hours of refining resumes, attending leadership seminars, and participating in career development workshops.

I know the struggle of dead-end leads, the importance of improving oneself for better job prospects, and the scarcity of shared information in this process. This realization has fueled my commitment to helping others. Hence, I've decided to launch a page where I share my experiences, and insights, and offer support for those navigating the complexities of career development.

Join me on this mission, where we can explore ways to enhance professional skills, turn challenges into opportunities, and build a community that uplifts one another. Together, let's empower each other in the pursuit of professional growth! 💼✨
